The benefits to doing left and right instead of using existing frames as left or right view is that the holes to fill will be smaller since they are spread across both left and right. I don't want to mess with the stupid consumer level gimmicky 2d-to-3d conversion applications because they generally don't work. But I am intrigue by Nunif and VisionDepth3D. More by Nunif since it's FOSS.

My initial approach was going to be: ffmpeg to dump frames to PNG. MiDaS with scripting to make depth maps for each frame. Blender to combine depth maps with original frames. Displacement to create left and right views of 2D frame. Fill in holes left behind by this process
