ok fedi, I have a dell micro sff pc (an optiplex 7050), the kind that only fits an nvme and a 2.5" hd inside. I have a 10 TB 3.5" hd I'm trying to use, got a longer sata+power cable to let it sit outside the case, and it won't respond when plugged in. A 2.5" drive I have laying around works fine on either of the extender cables I have. It does not see the large drive in the BIOS or in the OS (dietpi).
I suspected the 3.3v issue with newer SATA specs and covered pins 1-3 with non conductive tape, this didn't make any difference. The large drive is a Toshiba NAS N300 that worked fine in a set up with an SBC. The little dinky one is WD Blue (5400 RPM, 500GB).
Any ideas? I guess my backup option is to throw it in an external enclosure and use it over USB but I would prefer to get it working on SATA if possible.
