This weekend kid had an event at the Ice Box Arcade in Fremont which meant we got to tag along a play a bunch of classic pinball tables and arcade cabinets for free. Definitely the best way to sample a bunch of different games (since the staff used their keys to add credits to all the machines), even when you’re bad at them. I’m glad we didn’t have to manage quarters!
I was especially excited to play Raiden II, which I knew would be very similar to the Raiden DX cabinet I used to play at Laserport laser tag in St. Louis Park, MN.
From their full games list I also played Dr. Mario and he beat me in a quick round of Street Fighter II (which as a kid I mostly played on SNES). I lost track of how many of their pinball list I played but it covered the range from weird 1980 fantasy vibes with no ramps to modern franchise video pinball for Avengers and The Mandalorian.
I really liked the classic tables for not having complicated quests and such, though I also played so much Crystal Caliburn on our Performa 6115CD back in the day, trying to gather all 12 knights.
Anyway pinball is fun, I love that there’s a pretty good scene in Seattle, and someday I want to own a TNG machine.
