The thing I can do for now is to keep most of it to myself and/or trusted people. There is debate brought by the person who started the debate. Do you know what this is about? We all know. But maybe they can't argue with my principle that I choose to be true to myself, not to others.

I made this comment on stage at a recent event while working through a section focused on innovation strategies.

I knew right away I had something powerful!

Part of what happens when I provide very detailed, disruptive industry trends is that people become overwhelmed. Whether it's the new world of hyperconnected, intelligent medical device technology, digital twin manufacturing design processes, or the accelerated role of generative engine optimization in website marketing strategies, many in the audience often react with 'whoa!'

And I know what they are thinking. "I don't need to do that right now." "It can wait." "I can do it later."

Excuses.

Not action.

And then one day, they wake up, realize that they have fallen way behind, and suddenly know that it is impossible to catch up.

The future went past them.

But they had a choice.

They could have acted. They could have avoided the excuses and instead, decided to move forward.

They could have committed to the opportunities of tomorrow, today.

But they didn't, until it was too late.

What excuses are you making right now?

What actions are you avoiding?

Where is your future caught between the action/inaction line?

Today in Labor History January 28, 1935: Iceland became the first Western country to legalize therapeutic (elective) abortion. The Soviet Union legalized it in 1919. And the Nazis legalized abortion in 1935, but only to get rid of what they considered genetically inferior people. They prohibited women of Protestant German heritage from having abortions.
