Just missing one piece of info, the release of #CDRW (and affordable #CDR) in the late 90s.

Then we see that the market is pretty constant overall, with variations when the industry is abusing of its possibility to set prices, and the down-regulation brought by illegal copies whenever technology allows them (#cassette, CD-R, #MP3 storage, #P2P), but the market never goes too low either.
