There's also a volume 2 of #BoardsOfCanada "A Few Old Tunes"...

For #BoardsOfCanada fans out there, you might be interested in this gem from 1996 as 'liberated' by an interested party and made available for enjoying through YouTube. This is called "A Few Old Tunes" and apparently, as the story goes, an original cassette was purchased at great expense from a music store, and then digitised with the finest contemporary techniques.

This is one of those places where #qpwgraph could be employed to play YouTube directly into #BitwigStudio to allow one to bootleg their own local copy.

One of my highlights in 2025 was seeing DJ Food's Boards of Canada-centric "O Is For Orange" AV set. You don’t easily get to hear many DJs play BoC. Or when they do it is usually the same track (even if they are beautiful). Thank you #DJFood for bringing this to us. Music discovery is a beautiful journey, and our favourites may change over time but for me one of them has always been on top of my list for over 15 years and it is Boards of Canada (+ Autechre in different ways) BoC touches something deep and beautiful and simply makes me feel good. DJ Food is doing doing this set again today in Limehouse! -> tickets.partyutility.uk/funkip

Here is a snippet from his set I saw on 21 Nov 2025: mixing Eagle In Your Mind and Happy Cycling beautiful, groovy, nostalgic but also timeliness, emotional.

The Campfire Headphase is the third studio album by Scottish electronic music duo Boards of Canada. It was released on 17 October 2005 by Warp Records. Unlike previous albums from the duo, The Campfire Headphase features the addition of more organic musical elements, including heavily treated acoustic guitars and more conventional song structures. It received generally positive reviews from critics, and reached number 41 on the UK albums chart.

Simon Reynolds of The Observer wrote that "blurring the boundaries between rock and techno is a smart move, because BoC have always made music that deserved to appeal beyond the electronic audience", and praised "the stereophonic delirium of their production." - Wikipedia

someone uploaded HQ versions of Some Old Tunes.

i'm not listening on anything proper but comments say it's not just some software cleanup & is an 'anonymous digital source'.

Ended the week and welcomed the weekend before getting up the moors with an old favourite in the form of Music Has the Right to Children the debut studio album by Scottish electronic music duo Boards of Canada, released on 20 April 1998 in the United Kingdom by Warp.. The album was produced at Hexagon Sun, the duo's personal recording studio in Pentland Hills, and continued their distinctive style of electronica, featuring vintage synthesisers, degraded analogue production, found sounds and samples, and hip-hop-inspired rhythms...

Slant Magazine described the album as "nestled somewhere in between the warm hues of 1970s flocked wallpaper and the sleek electronic sheen of the future." Pitchfork stated that the duo "tapped into the collective unconscious of those who grew up in the English speaking West and were talented enough to transcribe the soundtrack." - Wikipedia

BRB, retreating to the psychological fortress of the music I fell in love with during my Oink.me.uk piracy days.
