@graymattergrcltd I knew I wasn't moving again before my first greyhound would pass, which he did early last year. I had planned to move later this year with my other greyhound. Among the cruelties 2025 had for me was her cancer, and her passing later in the year.

I had, then, planned to wait until after I moved and settled before finding my next greyhound. But, man, I'm not doing well without a dog. I suspect I'll be bringing one home before the move, even if I think it's a bad idea.

My pack has yours in our thoughts.

When I adopted Benson, he didn't know much about being a pet dog even though he was nearly 8 years old. He had a rough start in life.

I lived in an apartment which had a fully secured private dog park. It wasn't very big, but every dog that came were residents, so there were frequent visitors.

He met Moose as a puppy. Benson was 8 years old, Moose was 8 weeks. Moose looked up to him so much, but Benson really didn't want anything to do with him.

Over time, though, they bonded. They became such close friends. They became excited to see each other at the dog park.

Moose helped Benson learn fun and friendship.

It was dangerous in the dog park when they decided to chase, though. Moose, being a great dane, meant there was close to 200lbs of dog running full speed in such a small space. Despite Benson being smaller, he's the one that was once responsible for knocking someone down!

Moose moved away with his family, which left Benson a bit depressed. This is what lead to me finding Leeloo to keep him company.

Great danes don't have long lifespans. Shortly after Benson's passing, Moose also passed. I still keep in contact with his family.

It actually wasn't super common they would share a space closely. Benson wasn't comfortable with it, and Leeloo understood this.

But Benson also understood that Leeloo sometimes needed this. So he would tolerate it.

The first time Benson and Leeloo shared a dog bed was contentious. I don't have a good pic of it. But reviewing the video, in hindsight, it could have gone so wrong.

But over time, they bonded quite closely.

Mostly, Leeloo would look for comfort from Benson when she couldn't get it from me for one reason or another.

One time, when it was nail trimming day, because they grew to love nail trimming day, Leeloo climbed into the bed with Benson because he was going first and she was jealous and wanted to go first. It was actually a problem!

Every now and then they'd lay in such a way to resemble the taijitu, or yin and yang symbol.

But they grew to love each other dearly.

It was rare for Benson to ask me for anything. But, from the very first day, whenever he wanted something, he'd come up to me, and usually just look at me until I figure out what he wanted. Sometimes, if I took too long to figure it out, he'd just start licking my leg.

Usually, he just wanted a little attention.

These photos span years. From the first day to somewhere more recently.

Throwback photo of Benson in my Outback.

My dogs basically never jumped in the car on their own. Only Benson had on 3 occasions. On all 3 occasions it was because he really wanted to go home.

On this occasion, I was in the process of moving and we were at our new home. But he disagreed. This was not home.

Yet, anyway.

He did settle in. And I promised this would be his last move, which I kept.
