3D hubs no longer exists so I thought it would be nice to have a user-friendly alternative for requesting prints and offering to print for others. Because I seem to be a software engineer I built one myself:

3dfabs.org/

Totally free and with all Bambu printers and most Bambu materials preloaded!

Now I can automatically open and close the sliding glass door between the hallway and the dining room/kitchen. This offers tremendous new automation possibilities. #switchbot #bambulab #smarthome

And there we go, I designed my own riser to route the cable out the back.
Installation is a bit finicky, I don't like the two cable holders glued to the walls with no spares. But it's a nice fit!

What do you mean the bed alone is able to get the chamber temperature up to 50 degrees and I could just let it heat soak...

Got a chamber heater for my P1S :3

I need to print a riser for the glass lid in order to route the cable out, but I tested it outside the printer today. Seems to work great, if loud
Automatically turning on based on target bed temperature is killer! Even if it needs to be on WiFi

Leave it to #Biqu to release the upgrade #BambuLab wouldn't

It's round-up time, and today I'm starting with the news that is discontinuing the popular P1P 3D printer - but promises that spare parts will be available clear out to early 2031.

Pretty gorgeous first layer for an eight year old partial roll of TPU I’ve had sitting in the open most of that time. I dried it for 13 hrs last night just in case. This is the first use on my H2S (and third printer this roll has seen in its life). See how the next six hours goes… #3dprinting #BambuLab

This is my take on the iconic Escape Pod from the Tantive IV, the small craft that carried C-3PO and R2-D2 to safety at the very start of A New Hope. Designed for emergencies, the pod is compact, cylindrical, and brutally functional.

Designed in Blender 5.0, printed in @bambulabs_official P1S with @Elegoo 3D Official grey rapid PLA+.

More bizarre Bambu auto placement behavior. I created a 8 unit long Gridfinity bin. It imports it oriented to exceed the plate depth, so I hit auto. It moves it to an odd angle and still creates an overhang of the plate with an error. 90 degrees is the obvious answer. So I do that and it overhangs one end, so I hit auto again for fun and it makes another odd angle that overhangs the plate. Going back to 90 degrees, I shift it manually a hair right and it fits fine.

Trying to figure out Bambu's logic here when I clone this Gridfinity bin 48 times. It initially lays it out with three outside the plate bounds, but they clearly have a place. So I choose auto-arrange and it fits them all, but I get this bizarre spacing.

Any idea if there's some kind of logic / efficiency to this?

This weekends 3D printing project:

I designed a new box for our food weighing scale. This was one of the first things my wife bought when we moved across the country and we’ve had it for at least 15 years.

I think my wife prefers the old box, she’s asked me not to throw it away 😂

Really pleased with this little 3D printed mod to relocate the camera on the A1 mini. 👍 Can get a decent view of the printing now. Also finally installed my 5 to 1 mod for linking the external spool with the AMS.

Washington wants your 3D printer to spy on you - here's the bill

Well, now every #3dprinter comes with spyware, #plannedObsolence and a hard end of life date if that law is in place. 🫩

Funny thing: a couple of hours ago, I started to investigate whether or not I should buy a #BambuLab printer despite its #cloud dependency in case you want a nice UX.

However, this new development let me cancel my plans for now as of the high risk of losing over 1000€ for an expensive future brick.

As it turns out, after priming a coding assistant with a bunch of web searches, asking it to build scrapbooks on a dozen printers and building a knowledge base of sorts, it doesn’t do half bad recommendations.
