#BN2

Manchester Monday 2 2nd February 2026.

G-BEEG, Britten-Norman BN-2A-26 Islander, Northern Airlines, wearing the colours of it's previous operator, LoganAir, at Manchester Barton, some time in the 1990s.
This wasn't an airline as s most people would recognise it, they operated ad hoc flights from local airfields to 3000+ feet, after which passengers would de-plane and make their own way to the ground.
And I'm jealous, because the one time I did a parachute jump, it was from the back of a crappy little Cessna 206, not one of these beauties.
Come to think of it, I was actually booked onto a LoganAir flight operated by a BN2, from Aberdeen to Glasgow, but it was over-booked, so they replaced it with an SD-3-60.
That was still a new type to me, and we had a "meal" service on board, which you wouldn't get on one of these, but still, I was gutted!

Side view of a small, high-winged, twin propellor-engined airliner parked on grey tarmac apron facing to the left.
The plane is largely white, with a thick red and slightly thinner red stripe running along the body below the passenger cabin windows, sweeping up into the lower reaches of the tail from aft of the wing, and small black "Northern Airlines" titles at the bottom of the cockpit doors.
The partial black registration "BEEG" can be seen on the upper rear fuselage, while the white tail has a large red triangle in the middle.
Grey tarmac apron fills the foreground, with grass in the background leading up to bushes marking the airfield perimeter, under grim grey sky.

Side view of a twin engined jet airliner taxiing from left to right at a busy airport. The plane is largely white, with mauve, billboard-style "Qatar" titles on the forward fuselage, repeated in a grey Arabic script on the upper forward fuselage, above the wing root, and the black registration "A7-BOF" on the lower rear fuselage, just below the last few cabin windows, and a small Qatari flag just above those windows. The tail is a very light grey, with darker grey stripes overlaid with the head of an animal with horns sticking out of the back of it's head. A smaller, circular version of the tail logo appears on the side of the white engine pods mounted under the wings. Grey concrete apron, marked with yellow lines for planes to follow, some of which are lit up, fills the foreground. More apron space fills the background, with a total of 13 jet airliners visible, parked facing in various directions, in an array of liveries that predominantly feature shades of white, blue, grey, and red. Trees in the distance are being swallowed up by grey mist.

Britten-Norman BN-2A Islander Designed as a simple, rugged air taxi, the Islander has been immensely successful, serving small communities in remote corners of the world. It was also a favourite of parachute/skydiving clubs. Indeed, this example (built in 1977) was utilised in this role in both Germany and Scotland. Donated to the National Museum of Flight at East Fortune, Scotland by Cormack Aircraft Services Ltd, it has been painted to represent an Islander of the Scottish Ambulance Service #aircraft #BrittenNorman #Islander #ScottishAmbulanceService #airambulance #BN2 #aviation #avgeeks #airtaxi #NationalMuseumofFlight #EastFortune #Scotland #skydiving #parachutists #CormackAircraftServices

All the sections of #BN2 have already been spotted on the site, an a good number of them are already stacked.

The #starship on the left should be #SN15, so far the only landing survivor. She was scheduled for a second flight, but then they removed all three engines (presumably because they were damaged) and eventually it was moved back to the construction site.

On the right, the "high bay", which seems to contains #SN16 and pieces of the #BN2 booster (the first one which is expected to fly).
