Bis Anytone eine korrigierte Version veröffentlicht, empfehlen wir dringend, kein Update auf V1.03 durchzuführen. Für Kunden, die ihr Gerät derzeit nicht verwenden können, hat Anytone eine vorübergehende Lösung in Form eines Firmware-Updates „V1.04 BETA“ bereitgestellt. Download bei Wimo.

@allianceradio This follows from recent AnyTone AT-D878UV radio firmware version(s) that were removed from the release page for a variety of reasons. Bleeding edge firmware almost always has risks not present when staying a version or two back from that front. TNX & 73

Update up top: firmware upgrade is only possible on Windows; no Wine.

So if anyone has the means to upgrade and program an #anytone D878 UV II at #39c3, please let me know.

Does anyone know if I can upgrade and program an #anytone D878UVII with Linux these days? Alternatively, is someone at #39c3 able and willing to help me and potentially explain a few things?

What I dislike about my #Anytone AT-D878UV II Plus - it is super loud even on the lowest level.

Not something super critical but scarry sometimes :D

Couldn't sleep well tonight so I spent time to configure DMR on my #Anytone.

The first impression - setup is a bit confusing.

- There are digital contacts list, friends list, Contact/Talk groups list. Took a while to understand what are the differences and when to use one.
- Need to create a channel for each group, add channels to the zone, create a scan list for the zone (same as for analog setup).

Managed to talk with Parrot and hear local group chat. Impressed by sound quality!

According to rumors, you can only change the #APRS symbol on the #Anytone D878 if you’re in digital mode 😠

A limitation of an otherwise great radio. Curious - how do other radios handle this?

Can't find how to change APRS symbol on my #anytone D878 without connecting it to PC. Can't it be changed with radio only or do I miss something?

Finally found time to set up #APRS on my #Anytone D878!

- First TX went out with the wrong callsign (CPS had reset mine).
- Second TX had a weird symbol.
- Third TX finally worked smoothly as expected.

Today is the day I made a very first voice QSO.

Used my new #anytone 878 handheld, with 2.5W over CQ VHF frequency somewhere in fields near Jieznas, Lithuania.

For some reason #baofeng can not break squelch of my #anytone on PMR466 frequencies. Only possible ways I've found are:
1. Completely turn off SQL level on AnyTone (not an option).
2. Configure PMR channels on AnyTone to use wide bandwith. Not the best option as well.

Baofeng bandwith is set to narrow but probably that setting does not do much.

Things I've learned during the first day with #anytone AT-D878UV II Plus V2:

1. Radio arrives with pre-configured region and limited frequency ranges. For example, "Amateur Europe" region allows listening PMR466 feequencies but prevents TX. Regions can be changed easily 🤫
2. Noticed some menu items were missing after fiddling with regions. Later I've found there are Professional and Amateur modes of the radio. Amateur has more options ;-) Initially I thought it is vice versa.

As a newbie #hamradio explorer, decided to get something better than Baofeng (known as "standard").

Motivation:
- Explore new areas such as #aprs
- Better channel management
- Improved audio
- And most important - simply wanted to see how the "proper", "better" and full-featured radio compares to a Baofeng.

Since I usually do not know what I'm doing, didn't want to overspend. Ended up purchasing #anytone AT-D878UV II Plus V2 which arrived earlier this week!

If you have an AT-D878 walkie talkie (and it bugs you that there is no indicator line on the volume knob), here’s a simple modification to scratch that itch. Add a small piece of white electrical tape to the small notch along the lower edge of the knob. It is easy to just pull the knob off, cut a sliver of tape to fit in the notch, and reinstall back onto the radio. Not the biggest issue, but you might give it a try to see if it is helpful for you. 73

@dl2jml Was not aware of the concern for that? (Problems into typical antenna, load-pull, or stable termination?) If a possible issue, can put together the high-power TX setup and have a look at some point. Worth checking in-band spurious or just harmonics? Do not have any info on the TX line up for this AT 578 radio or the accompanying AT 878 HT’s. Still getting the lot programmed up here… #HamRadio #AnyTone

Does anyone know of the part number of the SMA connector used in the #AnyTone handhelds? Or where to get one? Or if a service manual is available? (asking for a club member whose connector needs replacing) #HamRadio

#linux should do most things I want: gamiing with #proton, 3D printing with Cura, programming with jetbrains software and of course office and browsing.

But my #anytone CPS is windows only, and also laserGRBL is better off with windows…
