Hooray for #doorsday!

I just remembered that I have a whole lotta pics of #doors from my "Let's Fucking Go Somewhere" trip to #Funchal with @Sk8r_Grrl.

I won't spam you today but you'll be seeing more of the "Art of Open Doors" project in the Old Town.

A vibrant wooden door, numbered 107, featuring a hand-painted mural of a colorful hillside town under a blue sky. The painting depicts tiered, multicolored buildings nestled on green hills with stylized trees. Part of the "Art of Open Doors" project, this artistic doorway is located on Rua de Santa Maria in the historic Old Town of Funchal, Madeira.

This image captures the quaint entrance of a rustic cottage or house, adorned with a charming display of potted plants and greenery. The front door, painted in black, is flanked by an array of terracotta and plastic pots, each housing a variety of plants, including flowers and shrubs. A window to the left of the door is decorated with a string of colourful triangular bunting, adding a festive touch. The window offers a glimpse into the cramped indoor space. The exterior walls are partially covered in mostly dried or dead vine, enhancing the cottage’s rustic appeal. The ground is scattered with fallen autumn leaves, contributing to the seasonal atmosphere.

Doorks rejoice! #Görlitz is a treasure trove for #door and window enthusiasts. Whether elaborately ornamented or shabby and neglected, this town has them all. Can't wait to share more of these beauties with you over the coming weeks and months! 🤩

A photograph of an old, weathered doorway set within a historic building. The entrance is framed by an ornate archway made of red brick and stone, featuring intricate carvings and a semi-circular window above the double wooden doors. The doors themselves are dark brown with frosted glass panels, showing signs of age and wear.

The brickwork around the arch is exposed, revealing patches of crumbling plaster and faded red bricks. Graffiti is faintly visible on the lower part of the doors. In front of the doorway, a solitary wooden chair is placed on the stone-paved ground, adding a touch of solitude to the scene.

#FotoVorschlag: Kurioses Souvenir // Strange souvenir

📍#Conwy, #Wales

Our friends brought back a bottle opener from the Phallological Museum in Iceland (you can probably guess its shape) which is probably the strangest souvenir I've seen so far. I'm not usually one for souvenirs, but for some time now (albeit rather inconsistently, as it's not always easy to find one) I've been insisting on collecting fridge magnets for the magnetic board in our hallway. While I didn't visit this particular shop, we did buy two magnets during our trip to Wales.

A photograph of the exterior of a shop named 'The Knight Shop.' The entrance features a life-sized statue of a knight in full armour, standing on a small platform to the left of the doorway. The knight holds a red shield with a white lion emblem and wears a plumed helmet. Above the door, a black sign with gold lettering displays the shop’s name. Two flags are mounted on the building’s facade, and two blackboards list items for sale, including swords, armour, giftware, mead, and coats of arms. The shop has a traditional appearance with white walls, black window frames, and a few steps leading up to the entrance.

3/3 The Bradford Union Club, Piece Hall Yard, Lockwood & Mawson, 1877. Bradford's wealth became synonymous with vulgarity, Ruskin scoffed at its architecture, Eliot disparaged a confident youth as: 'One of the low on whom assurance sits As a silk hat on a Bradford millionaire' #ADoorableThursday

2/3 The Bradford Commercial Bank, Hustlergate, Bradford by Andrews & Pepper, 1868. By the 1860s Bradford could claim to be the wealthiest city of the Empire, and had undergone exponential population growth attracting workers to its mills producing wool, cotton snd silk fabrics. #ADoorableThursday

'Labor Vincit Omnia', Work Conquers All on the corner of Darley Street and Kirkgate, Bradford, West Yorkshire, built for the Bradford Banking Company in 1858 by Andrews & Delanney. Few British cities can boast as many grand Victorian commercial buildings as Bradford. 1/3 #ADoorableThursday

Für mich als Außenstehende wirkt die #Asamkirche in #München ziemlich #kitschig. Ich habe mich dann mal nicht in die lange Schlange vor der Eingangstür gestellt. // For me as an outsider, the Asam #Church in #Munich seems quite t̶a̶c̶k̶y̶ elaborate. There was a long queue in the street, but I gave it a miss.

The ornate façade of the Asam Church (Asamkirche) in Munich, a stunning example of late Baroque architecture. The entrance is framed by intricately carved columns, decorative stonework, and sculpted angels, all adorned in soft pastel hues of cream, gold, and grey. The elaborate stucco reliefs and gilded details around the arched doorway and window add to the church’s grandeur, while a dramatic pediment crowns the scene.

In the foreground, pedestrians pass by, their motion slightly blurred, capturing the everyday life of the city. To the side, a small queue of visitors waits to enter the church, highlighting its status as a beloved cultural and historical landmark.
