Ah, yes, because nothing screams academic rigor quite like open-book exams with unlimited internet access, ensuring students can Google their way to a diploma. 😏📚 Meanwhile, we're all eagerly waiting for the chatbot to take the exams themselves and finally render the human element completely obsolete. 🤖🎓

@oneloop

Thank you for this critical analysis - you've hit the nail on the head.

VERIFICATION RESULTS:

All 6 references checked:
[1] Knoedler & Schneider (ICICS 2021) - Conference was 23rd edition, not 9th
[2] Smith & Johnson (IEEE TSP Vol. 68) - Paper not found in IEEE database
[3] Gupta & Sharma (RadioEng Vol. 29 No. 3) - Wrong issue, different paper
[4-6] All others similarly problematic

100% error rate = textbook AI-generated content indicator

YOUR POINT ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Your observation is crucial. "Jimi Sanchez" with nasa.gov email:
✓ Sounds credible on surface
✗ But: No verifiable publication history
✗ And: Two papers published same day (Feb 15, 2024)
✗ Suspicious: Could be AI-generated persona, test, or compromised account

CONCLUSION:
Whether real person or not - the paper is academically problematic.
We should have verified more critically before sharing.

Thank you for holding us accountable!

🔍 ANALYSIS: Why arXiv Paper 2402.17771 Shows "AI Slop" Markers

CORRECTION UPDATE:
We must correct our earlier post. The Sanchez paper shows strong
indicators of AI generation.

🔴 KEY FINDINGS:
• All 6 references are verifiably FALSE/FABRICATED (100% error!)
• ZERO numerical results or measurements in entire paper
• Code examples contain only "pass" instead of implementation
• Experimental descriptions are fictional
• Typical LLM language patterns throughout

📊 CONCRETE EXAMPLE:
The paper cites: "Smith & Johnson (2020) IEEE TSP Vol. 68, pp. 125-137"
We checked IEEE TSP Vol. 68 → Paper doesn't exist → 100% fabricated

💡 WHAT WE LEARNED:
✓ Verify references (sample check at least 20%)
✓ Look for numerical results
✓ Be skeptical of AI "confirmations"
✓ Critical reading is ESSENTIAL

🙏 THANK YOU:
to everyone who provided critical feedback!
This is the learning culture we build together.

Rauschunterdrückung: Isolierung sauberer Signale in Echtzeit.

I found a fake Facebook page created in early December using my name and face when I was looking for some past posts I'd written. I've reported it.

They're using a Colombian phone number. They used AI on my COPE photo to create the image of me posing with a pen. I don't have a doctorate and my surname isn't "Rodgkinson".

They list as an "Educational research centre" and use my job title, Head of Editorial / publication & research-integrity consultant.A fake advert for editorial services made using AI and my details.

"Academic Support You Can Trust".

"Hi, I'm Dr. Matt Rodgkinson [sic]"

It lists a Colombian phone number.

Just when we thought tech would make grading easier, it forced educators to revisit one of the oldest tools in the pedagogical toolbox. Colleges from Wyoming to California are turning to oral exams as a strategic response to AI-assisted cheating. And here is what’s fascinating: students aren’t just surviving these face-to-face evaluations, many say they prefer them, citing real engagement and a sense that they’re being tested on genuine understanding, not who can prompt the best AI. Oral exams don’t just block AI, they foster a skill the digital age most needs: the ability to think on your feet and articulate complex ideas in real time. That’s both an assessment and a career-ready competency.

TL;DR
🧠 oral exams offer AI-proof assessment
⚡ students report more meaningful learning
🎓 professors reconnect with mentorship
🔍 model pushes beyond tech dependency

A comic-book style illustration parodying a Star Wars poster with the title "THE RISE OF GEMINI AI" in yellow font at the top and "EdTech Situation Room Ep 364" at the bottom. In the center, a heroic android with glowing red and blue eyes, wearing a robe made of circuit boards with a Google "G" logo, stands triumphantly. Below it, a kangaroo in an astronaut suit holds a red sign that reads "16+". To the left, a cartoon character resembling Bart Simpson writes "I will not use AI to do my homework" repeatedly on a chalkboard. To the right, a beige Commodore 64 computer flies like a spaceship with rocket boosters. Blue binary code rains down from the starry space background.

Hot for teacher? Academic settings are not exempt from power abuse. Coercion violates the Principle of Trust and corrupts the integrity of mentorship. We move from Corrupted Code (Force) to Clean Code (Power).

Scenario: A student approaches a professor for help on a critical assignment. The professor replies:

❌ Corrupted Code (Force):
"I can help, but it will require a lot of late-night one-on-one time outside the office. Maybe we discuss it over dinner tonight?" (Leverages academic need to blur boundaries.)

✅ Clean Code (Power):
"That's a critical topic. I can give you an extra 30 minutes during my office hours tomorrow, or connect you with the senior TA for immediate help." (Affirms professional boundary; prioritizes resource access.)

The difference? The second message preserves the trust essential for education. What boundary can you clearly state today?
