I saw this quote on one of my emails (Substack summary) and I really like it. It has always bothered/intrigued me how seemingly intelligent people can hold views that are so obviously wrong or misguided. Especially in an age where accurate information is so readily accessible. (I know disinformation is perhaps even more readily available, but that does not mean accurate information is not available.)
Anyway, humility and curiosity. Great values to aspire to.
"The cure for ignorance is not information. It's humility and curiosity.
Facts can be easily dismissed. What motivates people to gain insight is recognising gaps in their understanding and wanting to find out more. The root of lifelong learning is knowing how little we know." Adam Grant.
Turning a Lunar New Year staple into a daily delight: A Taiwanese family in Auckland is turning a Lunar New Year staple into an everyday purchase, producing about 300,000 dumplings a week as demand grows on mainstream supermarket shelves.
While eaten year-round, many families in China eat dumplings around midnight on Lunar New Year's Eve, which falls on 16 February this year.

Luxon's govt have introduced voting restrictions for 2026. They removed day enrolment for voters. This means that you, your friends and your whānau have to actively enrol by the end of October. Please check your enrolment status at https://vote.nz/ and encourage everyone you know to do the same. #NZPol
It is Lunar new year next Tuesday. Growing up, my family usually has a big meal on the day before (三十, New Year’s Eve) and plus Tuesday is pancakes day so I am cooking this weekend! Going to make things I have never made before :
Eggplant buns (茄子青椒包子)
Eight- treasure rice (八宝饭)
Brown sugar buns (糖三角, triangle shaped buns filled with muscovado sugar paste)
And other stuff! Lots of sweets, which I am not used to make or eat. Haha

"We're excited to announce that Trace Beaulieu will also be the Art Director for these new MST3K shows! Trace will be envisioning the overall look of the new episodes, and working with production designer Heather Keena to turn those ideas into sets, models and miniatures. He's already scheming with our DP Jeff Stonehouse to deliver an utterly new and different hand-made Doorway Sequence. Huzzah!"

The importance of this cannot be understated. While Joel "invented" the show and the early versions of the Bots, it was Trace who rebuilt them for the Comedy Central era and built most of the props that weren't Joel's Invention Exchange items. Him being the Art Director will mean that MST3K will look... like MST3K, possibly more so than it did under just Joel.
Excellent talk by @sundogplanets in Pōneke. Surprisingly chipper presentation while yelling about billionaires and their satellites.
A UH history professor is speaking out after the school asked honors college professors to sign a memorandum certifying that their course curriculum does not “indoctrinate” students, calling the request a “red line” for many faculty.
BREAKING
Power prices could rise at least another 5% this year, after a 12% increase in 2025.
And Luxon's lot wants to add an extra charge to build a billion-dollar fossil gas terminal that we don't need and may not ever use.
Make it make sense!
And Powerswitch general manager Paul Fuge said he thought that was a conservative estimate.
