Cubicle life Vol. II
Anyway, finally got the WPM display to be right-aligned, by providing a width...
Also found the ShaderMaterial and added a subtle starry background with some twinkling stars 🌟
So @timbeaudet challenged his viewers to make an Asteroid-like game, and I needed a reason to try #Godot out more. We sometimes play typeracers on his stream so I decided to give making a typing game a go!
So, playing around with this new split keyboard ( https://eu.perixx.com/products/periboard-624?variant=44985322471689 ), and I'm loving it so far.
There was a problem with the connection between the keyboard and the computer cutting out - it turns out that it wasn't getting a good enough signal plugged into the back of my tower, so there were all manner of un-commanded inputs, or sometimes none, but moving the dongle to the front solved this.
Now, any garbage is caused my by futile attempts at trying to type.
So, now I'm trying out various ways of raising it.
Having the whole thing flat doesn't work for me, I find the best results involve having a slight upwards tilt from front to back.
A larger tilt uppppppwards just feels silly, so i'm not doing that.
So, I've tried a slight upward tilt towards the middle - that is my 2nd favourite position, trying a slightly higher tilt as I write this, and ... no, not feeling it.
I can do it, but the keys on the periphery just fall too far away.
There are 2 higher tilt angles, and that is just... wrong.
A vertical mouse makes some kind of sense, but a vertical keyboard - not so much.
But yeah, I'm loving it.
I'm really glad I've been re-training myself in hopw to type - I used to cover about 3/4 of the keyboard with my right hand, now it is precisely 50/50, and I can now use the left shift key with the keys in the middle, something that I couldn't do a month ago.
I know some people will be wondering why I went for this instead of a more expensive model, and the reason is simple - I wanted to try a spl it out without spending far more than I can afford, now I know I like it, and so I might be able to justify the cost in around 18 months.
But for now, this is enough for me.
Right, now to put it back to a lower tilt...
Turning type hints from passive comments into active guardrails sounds wild. Curious how a single metaclass can reshape your whole data model? 🤔

Any recommendations for a swipey keyboard app for android that isn't fking SwiftKey now microslop has added a fucking image generator to it?!
NOBODY NEEDS THIS
Edit: lots of recs for Heliboard, but not being massively techy, I didn't know what F-droid was so, new tasks.
Also require multilingual options - Norwegian and Cyrillic mainly, plus the usual special characters.

I almost can't believe that I'm now the proud owner of a Think 6.5 V2! 😊
No joke, I've been trying to get my hands on this board for FIVE YEARS, and finally one came up for sale last week!
Absolutely chuffed to bits, sounds fantastic right out of the box, big shoutout to the original owner for doing a great job with the assembly 🙏
Caps are KBDfans Crayon, switches are Penguin tactiles for my fellow #keeb nerds 🤓
@akaruiwrx @mxk Would love to try the Matt3o MT3 dev tty kit but unfortunately I'm on ISO-DE keyboards and there's no ISO kit afaik. 😞 #keycaps #mechanicalkeyboard #typing #keycapsprofile
Anyone any recommendations for MT3 profile keycaps for ISO-DE layouts? 😳
Did you know that keyboard tilting can seriously affect comfort and performance? ⌨️
Negative tilt keeps wrists neutral and reduces strain, though some may find typing slightly less natural.
On the other hand, positive tilt can feel more natural and speed up key access, but it often increases wrist extension and fatigue.
Same keyboard, totally different feel.
