ASA supera 5 mil millones de litros en abasto de combustible
El desempeño operativo permitió mantener niveles históricos de eficiencia y continuidad en el servicio, incluso en los periodos de mayor demanda

Aeropuertos y Servicios Auxiliares (ASA) cerró el ejercicio 2025 con un registro de resultados relevantes en el suministro de combustibles de aviación, con lo que consolida su papel estratégico en la operación aeroportuaria nacional y reafirma su compromiso con la calidad, la seguridad y la eficiencia operativa.
Durante el periodo de enero a diciembre de 2025, ASA suministró un total de 5 mil 162 millones de litros de combustibles de aviación a través de sus 52 estaciones en el territorio nacional, lo que representó un promedio diario de 14 millones de litros.
Esta cifra significó un incremento de 3% en comparación con el ejercicio inmediato anterior, como resultado del crecimiento sostenido en la demanda aérea y de la optimización de los procesos de suministro.
Para alcanzar este volumen anual, se realizaron 811 mil servicios de abastecimiento a aeronaves, con una variación positiva de 1.5% respecto a 2024. –sn–

Today in Labor History February 1, 1912: The Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) started the San Diego Free Speech Fight in response to a city ordinance preventing public speaking in and around the Stingaree neighborhood (now known as the Gaslamp Quarter). The authorities were trying to squelch labor and radical organizing in the multi-ethnic, working-class neighborhood, infamous for its houses of prostitution, gambling dens, opium dens and Chinese ghetto. Even as late as the 1980s, it still had a skid row feel, with its multitude of tattoo parlors, bars, sailors, junkies and fascination parlors. As a kid, I remember watching the con artists running games of 3-Card Monte on the sidewalks there.
The IWW had been active in San Diego since 1906. They organized timber workers and cigar makers, as well as workers at San Diego Consolidated Gas and Electric Company. Their strike at the power company led to the formation of a public service union, which disbanded in 1911, when many Wobblies flocked to Tijuana to join the anarchist Magonista revolution there. As the Free Speech fight progressed, anarchists, socialists and liberals joined the struggle, deliberately speaking in the restricted zone so that the jails would overflow. And they all demanded individual trials in order to clog up the legal system. Jail conditions were horrendous. Prisoners were crowded into the drunk tanks and forced to sleep on vermin-infested floors. Beatings were routine. 63-year-old Michael Hoy died from a police beating in jail. The IWW called on members from across the country to ride the rails to San Diego to join the fight. At least 5,000 heeded the call.
The local papers, of course, ran countless editorials attacking the radicals and glorifying the police. This encouraged vigilantes, who’d patrol the rail yards looking for incoming Wobblies. They deported many across county lines where they forced them to kiss the flag and run through gauntlets of men who beat them with pick axe handles. On May 7, the cops killed another Wobbly, Joseph Mikolash. And on May 15, vigilantes kidnapped Emma Goldman and her companion Ben Reitman, who had come to show their support. However, before deporting them, the vigilantes tarred and feathered Reitman and raped him with a cane. Ben Reitman was a physician who focused his practice on providing treatment for tramps, hobos, prostitutes and the most marginalized members of society. He also wrote the book “Boxcar Bertha.” The July 11, 1912 edition of the IWW’s “Little Red Songbook” included the song: “We’re Bound for San Diego:”

And they call that “law and order” in the city, so it seems.

Sheinbaum inaugura la UNRC en Tijuana y anuncia plantel en Mexicali
El presidente municipal de Tijuana, Ismael Burgueño Ruiz, será el encargado de coordinar la construcción de un puente peatonal para facilitar el acceso al nuevo plantel de la UNRC.

La presidente Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo inauguró la primera etapa de la Unidad Académica de Tijuana de la Universidad Nacional Rosario Castellanos (UNRC) y anunció que también se construirá una Unidad Académica en Mexicali, Baja California.
“Hoy es un día de fiesta porque las y los jóvenes de Tijuana tienen derecho a la educación superior en la Universidad Nacional Rosario Castellanos; y así como aquí en Tijuana, como ya dijo Mario (Delgado, secretario de Educación), vamos a abrir más preparatorias, más universidades y aprovecho para decirles que en Mexicali también vamos a abrir una Universidad Nacional Rosario Castellanos”, anunció.
Agregó que el presidente municipal de Tijuana, Ismael Burgueño Ruiz, será el encargado de coordinar la construcción de un puente peatonal para facilitar el acceso al nuevo plantel de la UNRC.
Recordó que cuando era estudiante de preparatoria hubo un movimiento de alumnos que no tuvo acceso a la educación superior y que la motivó a impulsar la lucha para garantizar que nadie se quede sin la posibilidad de estudiar una carrera universitaria, convicción que la acompaña ahora como Presidenta de México.
Hizo un llamado a los estudiantes de Tijuana para que no olviden que su educación es pagada por el pueblo de México, cuyos impuestos son bien utilizados por los gobiernos de la Cuarta Transformación para la construcción de más espacios educativos.
El secretario de Educación Pública, Mario Delgado Carrillo, celebró que México tenga a la Presidenta de la educación y dio a conocer que solo en Tijuana aumentó 3 mil 500 nuevos lugares de bachillerato con la construcción y ampliación de nuevos planteles. Además, destacó que esta ciudad fronteriza pasó de ser el municipio con mayor número de egresados de secundaria que no tenían lugar en preparatoria, a tener garantizado un espacio de Educación Media Superior para todos los jóvenes tijuanenses. –sn–

The #Magonistas (backers of #anarchist revolutionary #RicardoFloresMagón) seized control of #Mexicali on #ThisDayInHistory in 1911. Their cause gained support from #IWW, #JackLondon, & #LosAngelesLaborTemple before ultimately collapsing not long after #Tijuana was taken in May.
Today in Labor History January 29, 1911: The Mexican Liberal Party, led by the anarchist Magonistas, captured the Baja California border town of Mexicali, during their revolution in Baja California. Many members of the IWW participated in the revolution, which also conquered and held Tijuana and Ensenada for several days. Lowell Blaisdell writes about it in his now hard to find book, “The Desert Revolution,” (1962).

What you see in the photo is the dry lake known as "Laguna Salada" just before you climb the "Rumorosa", part of the Baja sierra mountains.
Interesting fact: This part of the road is 10m below sea level which makes it one of the hottest places in the world up to 52°C recorded during summer. After you drive up for 15 mins you'll be 1200m above sea level with temperatures well under 0°C over winter.
