Nobody can afford a basement these days. We've got a shed for storage and bigger projects and plenty of smaller crafting supplies in my office drawers, but none of it is very exciting to look at. So for #WindowFriday, here's the small #window of a tiny wine cellar (where two large barrels were stored) at the Rhineland-Palatinate Open Air Museum in Bad Sobernheim. I'm afraid you'll just have to take my word for it on this one. 😅

The very large gold altarpiece mentioned above, about 35 feet tall and in the form of a neoclassical temple with arches and columns with floral capitals. This structure is virtually covered with small carvings of saints, angels, apostles, and other figures adoring the Christ child in the manger at bottom center. This structure is surrounded somewhat tightly by equally tall plain clear windows set within the church's distinctive white walls and complex brown stone ribbing.

A rather beautiful stained glass window by John Clark creates in 1997 for the National Piping Centre in Glasgow. It's mounted below a cupula at the top of a staircase in the former Victorian church and shows Scottish folk dance in progress. The background is translucent, rather than blue, but here you can see the blue of the twilight sky above it.

A rather wonderful decorative window in Tennent's Bar on Byres Road in the West End of Glasgow. At least some of its panels were created by Stephen Adam, an influential glass designer and a pioneer of modern stained glass in Scotland. While his work can be found in a number of buildings around the city, this is one of the few that is still in the public realm.

Small side chapel with marble walls and renaissance religious paintings on the two side walls and ceiling on the opposite wall is a marble tomb framed by small white statues of angels and the Virgin. Above the tomb is a smallish stained glass window with light blue/green floral and architectural designs, and at center a small depiction of the crucifixion.

Love the stained glass in this Gothic style window of Clarke and Bell's 1881 Western Baths on Cranworth Street in Glasgow, even though the lowest section seems to feature a rather angry owl!
