Never get tired of , . As the decades go on, it gets less grungy and a little more exclusive and money-infused, but it's far from being ruined by the wealthy and smug. In addition to lovely galleries and places of hospitality, it still has grit and tough jobs to do with the and industries. Here are pictures of city hall, a logo for a family health clinic, and some fading in the port area.

Astoria's city hall has a sort of Greek temple slash fortress look, with two pillars, a tall set of doors, and four small windows. It's built from a light-colored stone and actually looks like it was at one time a deposit for gold and treasure, or maybe a bank.In white lines on red background, the logo for a family clinic features a circle that might be representing the sun or moon, and an abstract, simple landscape that also looks like an open book with its pages fluffed up.Fading wall art on an old port storage building includes this image of a woman looking at you from an open window. She wears a kerchief and an apron. Behind her, almost faded to black, is a much older woman, who also looks at you, the viewer. On the window sill, a brown/rust-colored cat stretches her paw in the direction of the piece of fish that might have out of an open can that's also there. In the far left, you see the head of a fish, also on the window sill. Of course, canning was a huge industry here. And cats don't care about who watches or takes a picture.

i get rightfully blamed for this, but i tend to abstract games down to their basics. but, the reason for that is because i am one of those types of people who don't judge something based on how pretty it looks but rather on its inner machinations.

what makes a game tick? is it fun? is there depth?

i realize most people just don't care, but i suspect they also happen to be the kind of people who play a few times then put it into the shelf indefinitely!

yes, fkn sucks!

A quotation from Franklin Roosevelt

We have learned that we cannot live alone, at peace; that our own well-being is dependent on the well-being of other Nations, far away. We have learned that we must live as men and not as ostriches, nor as dogs in the manger.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt (1882-1945) American lawyer, politician, statesman, US President (1933-1945)
Speech (1945-01-20), Inaugural Address, Washington, D.C.

#Uploaded is such a cute #romcom. Loving it! Starring #CamilaMendes, #MarisaTomei (trivia tidbit: Marisa's mom was my Social Studies teacher in Jr. High #SmallWorld), #ArchieRenaux, #AnthonyHead (On #Prime in the states) The lead is Latinx! #RepresentationMatters

Anthony Head is pictured talking to Archie Renaux in Upgraded. He says "Michael Faust is holding court at the bar and I need a refill."

@gamingthepast I promised an email, but maybe it makes sense to go public with my thinking way before I know what I am talking about. I think I am reflecting on a more meta, possibly, ontological level. That is, rather than having students understand the specificities of historical events/processes, I’d want them to analyse through play the “generalities”. For example, we have been discussing #environing, that is the process through which environments are materially, simbolically, intellectually made. This has led us to very roughly draft a RPG (we only had 90 mins) where the central element is the world-making. Different playing actors have different relationships with the environment, one could say even different #ontologies and their game experience will depend on how these “world views” interact. Think #SmallWorld or #Root but open ended. After reading your latest toot I began to think of this as the Ontological Problem Space 😅 Let’s see where this goes in this year’s session

So I'm just two degrees of separation away from all those scumbags ...
