Rhode Island says it's a sanctuary state. But every year, our leaders refuse to pass even the most basic protections for immigrant families. We demand the passage of the 364 Day Bill aka HB-5502!
The bill would bring us in line with other states and protect community members from deportation over minor charges. It's a small, overdue fix that would bring a measure of relief and stability to families who have lived under constant threat for too long-and still, the Attorney General opposes it, the Speaker won't commit to a vote, and the House Judiciary buries it "for further study."
Our families are not bargaining chips. We're done watching our lives get negotiated away behind closed doors! Passing this bill is the floor, not the ceiling!
