PSA: Do not accidentally hit the red button in PHPStorm.

Or, well... feel free to do so.

But it caused me 3 hours of debugging because suddenly my local dev environment ran into a timeout. Because PHP-FPM was waiting for PHPStorm to acknowledge the debugging session - which it didn'T do. And also didn't inform me that something was waiting.

So I was just left with an unresponsive PHP-FPM 🤯

I stumbled upon it because it worked in a different browser...

Today's realisation in #PhpStorm is that the "Missing parameter's type declaration" inspection may or may not detect missing parameter type declarations. This is the Schrodinger's IDE. There is not a single deterministic feature.

#Jetbrains Updates laufen. Schade eigentlich, dass es von @jetbrains keine Kombi-IDE gibt, in der ich meine genutzten Programmiersprachen kombinieren kann. Das würde mir viel Ressourcen auf meinen älteren Rechnern sparen. Auch zieht sich ein Update jedesmal bei 4 oder 5 installierten Programmen, die in großen Teilen eigentlich gleich sind.

At first, I thought that more than 200 EUR/year for both (WebStorm and PHPStorm) was too expensive...

Mit #phpstorm ist es allmählich echt so wie damals mit Windows. Nach jedem Update muss man erstmal wieder Zeug aus- und umschalten.

Nein, ich will keine AI-Assistenten. Und nein, ich will auch kein neues, rundgelutschtes Standard-Theme, welches auch noch mehr Platz wegnimmt.

Hört auf, mir Dinge umzustellen bzw. mir zwangsweise aufs Auge zu drücken.

Between brew, laravel valet and php monitor, could it be any easier to develop on macOS? PHPStorm as my IDE. Multiple versions of PHP at your finger tips. This is my setup, what is yours?

If you are using #ddev & the ddev #phpstorm extension on #bluefin you need to install nss-tools with rpm-ostree to get mkcert to work correctly, and in PHPStorm point the extension to the ddev binary in /var/home/linuxbrew/.linuxbrew/bin/ddev #php

The laptop has been hyperventilating for a while now.
I check the process list.
#PhpStorm is using up like 9 cores of the CPU. The usage is inconsistent and keeps jumping up and down drastically.
I check the list of PhpStorm's background tasks. Find none.

I'm staring to think PhpStorm just has a coin miner hidden somewhere.

At that point I restarted it while writing this post, and about a minute later it complained to me about being low on memory. Even though only three files were open. Are you fucking kidding me?

Then it offered me to analyze memory usage. It took about two minutes and another restart of the IDE. Once it was done and offered me to share the dump/analysis with JetBrains, I agreed. And that's when it told me there's a new build which already fixes this "exception".

But I'm not on their subscription anymore, so I'm not getting that build. Sucks to be me, LOL! 😀

Another year of support from #JetBrains providing a free licence for their IDE suite. They have supported the project for 6 years now.

#phpstorm and #pycharm have changed the way I work and made my life a lot easier.

#Djot markup for #PHPStorm IDE etc: https://github.com/php-collective/djot-intellij Auto detects the .djot files and renderes the preview. Can use the #PHP lib to render exactly what would render out online.

The latest version of #PHPStorm/Gateway really screwed over the colour schemes. A bunch of stuff isn't differentiated anymore, even in external themes. Kind of a bummer to work with if I'm being honest.

Nun werde ich mal schauen, was die neue Version von #PHPStorm by #JetBrains alles kann.

Wenn ich irgendwann mal für kleines Geld - derzeit hab ich nicht so viel zum Investieren - mein altes #Goland , das ich von einem ehemaligen Arbeitgeber mit Fallback-Lizenz, bekommen habe, upgraden kann, werde ich zuschlagen.

Schade, das JetBrains da nicht wirklich etwas für Solo-Selbstständige mit kleiner Programmierschmiede haben.
Ideal fände ich ein Paket, dass man selbst zusammenstellt.

Searching in #phpstorm for `composer.json` and then picking the wrong entry, leading to a new composer.json in the current dir frustrates me massively. especially with the current IDE over SSH I use.. is there a way to disable that?

And now I'm hitting this other bug in #PhpStorm... Why is seemingly everything falling apart nowadays? 😡🤬😢😭
