Staatstheater Darmstadt encourages us to shoot random shorts for social media. There was literally no reason to make any during the final Aida, since it was, well, the last one. However, I documented how I psyched myself up to sing a high E-Flat anyway – and we made a fun little clip from the videos!

(I mention Aris, but forgot to explain who he is: Aris Argiris was Amonasro, the father of my character Aida.)

Our Intendant had a surprise for us: This Aida production will come back to Darmstadt the season after next. … that’s 2027/2028 I think? Very exited about that!!

Oh, and also: I sang a high E-flat in the finale, like Maria Callas! So, yeah. That happened! 😸

Aujourd’hui je vous emmène à Melbourne en Australie dans un recueil d'histoires et aussi le premier album sorti il y a 20 ans maintenant d’Oliver Mann. Il est chanteur d’opéra (je vous aurais tout fait les amis, la DA est éclatée), il est baryton-basse, et peut descendre comme Brad Roberts et monter comme Anohni. Une dinguerie comme dises les gosses. Il dit: ne croyez pas les gens qui vous parlent de bonheur, ils ne font que l’imaginer et ça ne ressemble jamais à tout ça. Vous trouverez 3 albums à dévorer qui s’en approchent et si vous accrochez sur ce premier titre absolument délicieux la discographie vous attends.

Ellis Island is an island in New York Harbor, within the U.S. states of New Jersey and New York. Owned by the U.S. government, Ellis Island was once the busiest immigrant inspection and processing station in the United States. From 1892 to 1954, nearly 12 million immigrants arriving at the Port of New York and New Jersey were processed there; as many as two-fifths of Americans may be descended from these immigrants. It has been part of the Statue of Liberty National Monument since 1965 and is accessible to the public only by ferry. The north side of the island is a national museum of immigration, while the south side of the island, including the Ellis Island Immigrant Hospital, is open to the public through guided tours.

Tomorrow evening, I’ll be singing a bit from Aida at the New Year’s reception of the “Lilien,” officially known as SV 98 Darmstadt! The party starts at six, and we’ll be on the big stage about an hour and a half later!
