This piece from Barney Ronay is an absolute belter. His line about Daniel Gidney, Lancashire CCC CEO burns like the Ritchie Blackmore guitar riff. There are some in Lancashire who loathe Gidney for his approach. I don't blame them.
Richards Thompson and Gould were at Surrey CCC when The Hundred was forced through by Graves and Harrison. Surrey CCC had been vocally critical of the proposals and were aware of the considerable negativity around the ECB's conduct.
IIRC at an AGM they said that because Surrey CCC had signed the contract with the ECB, they would honour it. Because Surrey are an honourable club. But Surrey is a member's club and they would always do the right thing for the members and follow the membership's wishes.
As critical of the ECB as they were, what happened when they moved into the ECB offices? Did someone chloform them then inject them with huge doses of the idiot drug?
If "MI London" or whatever they are going to call themselves are to operate from the Kia Oval they must abide by the law of the land.
I for one welcome any legal action that Pakistani players may bring.
