@benjohn Also, especially after seeing @Robinkanatzar's fantastic talk at #iOSDevUK this year, I feel more empowered than before to push back on things like this. (I am lucky to work with excellent, thoughtful designers though!)

Finally gotten around to uploading my lightning talk from #iOSDevUK 2024 to YouTube!

Still absolutely buzzing from last week’s amazing #iOSDevUK conference. So many things to take away from it, and I met so many awesome people this year. Already looking forward to the next one!
Loving these traditional #iOSDevUK group photos! And it's especially cool to be on one of them, hiding in plain sight!🥷
Serendipity moment:
Returning from a talk about debugging, and fixing bugs rather than treating symptoms… we walk past a man trying to clear a footpath with a leaf-blower while the wind was blowing the leaves back onto the path.
Reflection moment:
Standing alone at the Wellington monument at 6:30am… wondering how many other people have stood there over the years, watching the sun rise.
Group-bonding moment:
Everyone getting utterly lost in Pantycelyn on Monday afternoon, treating it like an ice-breaker game and helping each other to find their way.
Wishing I hadn’t said something moment:
Making polite conversation with the MacStadium folks about how they’ve invested in so much hardware infrastructure, and I mentioned the rumours about the Mac Mini form-factor changing.
I thought they might cry.
Facepalm moment:
Chatting with another conference speaker, both of us apologetic that we hadn’t watched the other’s talk.
Then we realise we were speaking at the same time, so that explained why…
Some moments from #iOSDevUK:
Validation moment: wondering if anyone will be offended by my ¡No Pasarán! tshirt, and a well-known member of the community said “if anyone is offended by it… then good”.
As the British would say, I had a "lovely" time this week at #iOSDevUK ✨🇬🇧
If you missed my talk, "Zero to Accessible in 30 minutes (or less!)," you can find the slides here: https://buff.ly/4egVI0V
Another amazing conference at #iOSDevUK 😍
So amazing that I barely took any photos 😅
Okay this is my public reminder to myself to take photos / videos at conferences from now on!
See you next at NSSpain, Server Side Swift, and Swift Leeds 👋
#iOSDevUK was wonderful, once again.
Met many truly lovely people. Delivered my first big talk, and came away with ideas for three more 🤦♂️
Another ace #iOSDevUK with some excellent speakers. Just wish it didn’t involve five hours worth of travelling either side 😅
Coming to #iOSDevUK was my long-time dream. Beautiful country, wonderful people. Staying in student dorms with fellow conference attendees creates a unique and warm atmosphere, I love it!
It was a great privilege to speak about Typestate this year. Hoping to come back next year 🤞
Phew, I did my lightning talk! 😮💨 #iosdevuk
Great presentation on accessibility by @Robinkanatzar at #iosdevuk
