TecSalud logra Nivel Platino ELSO y refuerza su liderazgo en soporte vital ECMO.

TecSalud fue reconocido como centro de excelencia por la Organización de Soporte Vital Extracorpóreo (ELSO), al premiar su programa de ECMO con el Nivel Platino, máxima distinción que otorga este organismo internacional. Con ello, TecSalud se convirtió en la única institución médica en México y Latinoamérica con este reconocimiento.
La ELSO es un consorcio internacional sin fines de lucro que reúne instituciones de salud, investigadores y socios de la industria. Administra el registro de pacientes con ECMO más grande del mundo, con más de mil centros participantes, y desarrolla guías, educación continua, investigación y publicaciones especializadas.
El reconocimiento acreditó al programa ECMO de TecSalud como referente internacional en soporte vital extracorpóreo, validando el cumplimiento de altos estándares de calidad en la atención. Incluyó la evaluación de protocolos clínicos, entrenamiento del equipo, resultados y compromiso con la mejora continua, así como su liderazgo en investigación y formación médica.
El Dr. Guillermo Torre, rector de TecSalud, enfatizó que este reconocimiento abriría nuevas oportunidades para fortalecer la colaboración internacional, impulsar la investigación y garantizar acceso a atención con estándares globales. Señaló que ser distinguidos por ELSO proyectaría el trabajo del equipo y ampliaría el intercambio académico.
Programa ECMO destacado
El reconocimiento se debió a la implementación del programa ECMO, terapia de soporte vital que sustituye temporalmente la función del corazón y los pulmones en pacientes con falla cardiopulmonar. Este procedimiento utiliza una bomba y un circuito externo que oxigena la sangre y la devuelve al cuerpo, permitiendo recuperación u otros tratamientos definitivos.
El Dr. René Gómez, director del programa ECMO y terapias avanzadas de TecSalud, afirmó que alcanzar el Nivel Platino de ELSO requirió preparación, educación continua y desarrollo de guías basadas en evidencia. Subrayó que el logro reflejaba el compromiso del equipo multidisciplinario y estandarización de prácticas para mejorar resultados clínicos en pacientes pediátricos y adultos.
Desde el inicio del programa en 2022, TecSalud atendió entre 20 y 25 casos anuales, con una tasa de supervivencia superior al 80%, cifra notablemente mayor al promedio internacional de 57%. Estos resultados evidenciaron la eficacia del programa ECMO y su capacidad de atención especializada en casos críticos.
El equipo de ECMO de TecSalud estuvo conformado por 43 profesionales de distintas áreas de la salud, incluyendo médicos intensivistas, cirujanos cardiovasculares, perfusionistas y personal de enfermería especializado en cuidado intensivo y soporte extracorpóreo. Cada integrante recibió formación adicional específica para el manejo de pacientes en ECMO. –sn–

In this study, Chang et al. investigated the feasibility of using #NIRS for the prediction of critical conditions in patients receiving Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation.
The PortaLite was used to measure oxygenation on the calf and machine learning was applied to differentiate disease severity in two #ECMO modes (veno-venous and veno-arterial), and NIRS proved potential in estimating improvements in patient condition.
