I quite enjoyed the new version of #Dracula. They changed a lot of the underlying story, but kept much of the spirit of it. It was kind of like watching Nosferatu for the first time; it felt familiar, but you weren't really sure what was going to happen next. The 3 main characters of the film (Dracula, Elizabeta/Mina, and the Van Helsing-style priest) were all played really well; every other character was just kind of background/incidental.

MeTV's Svengoolie likes to show Dracula (1931) with an orchestral score added for a French dubbed version.

This is a mistake. The music is intrusive and often overpowers the dialogue. If Tod Browning had wanted music in the movie he would have included it in the original release.
