Just saw this mutual aid request for a SIX year old Venezuelan in Seattle who has court in four days(on 2/13).
She doesn't have a lawyer and activist believe other children will likely be in court the same day too.
Instead of calling entire families to court together immigration courts increasingly appear to be separating the children into their own hearings. Increasing the cost and stress of navigating legal immigration proceedings.
Ridiculous.
A couple years ago an unarmed Black man, Timothy McCree Johnson, was killed over allegedly stealing sun glasses at a mall by a reckless cop.
The cop, Wesley Shifflett, was actually convicted but the conservative VA governor gave this dirty cop a full pardon on his way out of office this month.
This cop ended up serving only TWO days in jail over this murder.

My ex wishes to sow confusion.
There was no confusion in the courts eyes.
My ex filed false claims in court THREE times. They tried to have me arrested constantly during the court process for made up violations which never occurred.
The courts were not amused and thankfully saw through these abusive antics at every turn so far.
When you cost a black dad $25k in legal fees over obviously false claims, there is no confusion whose weaponizing the system.
Huge breaking news out of NYC court today as the judge struck down half of the federal charges Luigi Mangione was facing. This means the federal death penalty is no longer in the mix.
There's some less great news, it seems the judge hasn't struck down the illegally gathered backpack evidence.

I really hope people pay more attention and improve this area.
Americans (and western law in gerneral) really fails to do the obvious things in this situation... ensure no parent goes without a lawyer in family court.

This is very disappointing but not at all surprising.
It sounds unlikely that the court will act to stop ICE before the end of the month.
Up early to read the court updates and sadly Federal Court Judge Menendez is taking a leisurely pace and refused to put in place the TRO (temporary restraining order) against DHS today.
The Feds are expected to have a formal response by Jan 19.
State of Minnesota's reply is due Jan. 22.
Next hearing for oral arguments in the case pending. Schedule is TBD.

I think you get the picture on the shear amount of violence ICE is dolling out.
What Illinois suit drives home and closes with are words from federal officials themselves who promise that the worst is not over for Chicago.
In Bovino's own words he says they intend to come back later in 2026 with a renewed surge in the region slated for March.
One especially ridiculous case, ICE agents abducted a US citizen walking home from the gym.
The agents put a citizen into handcuffs and dragged him into an unmarked car that had no license plates at all!
Once in the car they scanned his face using the DHS app MobileFortify.
The feds insist that they should be able to keep biometric scans of citizens obtained forcefully in roving raids like this one.

Just finished reading most of the Minnesota v. DHS lawsuit and its just a massive constitutional violation wrapped in police violence and state's rights infringement.
Each offense more shocking than the last.
At the end of the day the AG of Minnesota is asking for very reasonable relief.
That the ICE/CBP surge END and that anytime ICE/CBP do have legit warrants they need to follow basic police procedures like respecting the constitution.
