The #bellsystem was a monopoly. And I'm sure they changed people too much.
But they also provided good service. The phone was reliable AF. They used the best equipment you could get ,and made most of it themselves. It was all bomb proof. Bell Labs was responsible for many major discoveries. Lasers,transistors, the drinking bird. A lot of it was just pure science stuff, not specifically for a product.

I don't think I've ever seen many ads with UNIX only. The only ones I have ever seen were for XENIX
