My faithful NAS of 7+ years has been treating me so well, but it didn't. Luckily I was able to save very important stuff like family pictures, my photographs, documents, etc etc
But lost 12TB of movies, tv shows, and a music collection i've maintained since the invention of mp3s (12,000+). All good.

Last night my computer decided it wouldn't open three chapters of my current WIP, almost 14.5k words lost!
After a lot of fandangaling, I recovered my lost words.
The open/repair, open previous versions, password shenanigans were redundant.
Sometimes the simplest solution is the best one. Yep, I turned the computer off and back on again.
Now re-reading chapter 2. Only 8 chapters to re-read after that. Then I can write the last 40k words to finish the novel.
