What Adobe is doing with the cancellation of Animate should be illegal. Animators are livid atm.

Unfortunately most foss tools aren't as good as Animate to replace it (no, Grease Pencil doesn't quite do the same and Krita/Synfig/Pencil2d/OpenToonz aren't as feature-rich), but Moho is an excellent piece of software. First created for the #BeOS back in 1999, I remember using it back then. In 2007 it even had a #Linux version.

Adobe Animate is going to Die?!
Why?! Was trying to fix its crashes too hard and rendering many things at once causing severe lag too hard and they just gave up?
Not that I liked Adobe. I hate them. I cancelled my subscription a few years ago because they charged me a lot for it per month.
It's confusing because I don't know why they would want to do this. There are still people like the Jacknjellify team using it commercially. What's going to happen to them?

Started looking around for an Open Source alternative to #AdobeAnimate last night, following that email.
Might give #Blender’s 2D capabilities a try.

It's pretty telling that the few responses I've seen to Adobe Animate from FOSS evangelists are not giving any documentation, not even a link, to any FOSS alternatives, but just soapboxing about how why everyone must use FOSS. Not very helpful.

I will be #teaching #2D #animation this semester. I noticed #AdobeAnimate has not received a major update in two years. What are people using for #2DVectorAnimation these days? We tried #ToonBoom a while ago but that did not work for us (expensive and no compatible student version) We use #Krita for pixel based work.

Adobe Animateでとりあえず適当にタイムラインを作って書き出しをしようとしてみたら、APNGでの書き出しが見つからなくて、ググってみたら結局、1コマずつ静止画で書き出して、「アニメ画像に変換する君」などという別のアプリを使用するらしい。
使い方1からのAnimateは使う必要なかったというわけだ。

それなら当然Animateは使わない

Adobe Animate、
アプリ付属のチュートリアルレッスン1で、まず途中で表示させるように指示されてる「変形」ウィンドウを出すと、チュートリアル吹き出しが消えるという設計ミスに萎えるとともに、ちょうどそこから先が解らん。

サンプルの絵の女の子の顔が飛ぶ。
