All I can say is that if you are negotiating a job offer in Alberta, make sure you ask for your employer to offer you a severance package and moving expenses in the event of a "yes" in a referendum.

"Premier Danielle Smith obviously has no problem that 30 per cent of her 27-member cabinet have been publicly identified as separatists and most have made no effort to challenge that claim." Isn't this a violation of their oath of office? A criminal offense? https://rabble.ca/politics/canadian-politics/apparently-the-ucp-is-ok-with-18-of-its-mlas-being-publicly-identified-as-separatists/
In case you’re wondering where Danielle Smith is going with adding citizenship to Drivers Licenses, this is it.
Cuts will be made to healthcare, education, etc. Cuts made by Albertans FOR Albertans... but, yeah, go ahead and separate and join up w/ the USA b/c THAT will help, eh.

Next up - Bill C-12. Thursday night, I rose in the Senate to call out the so-called “reforms” to our immigration & refugee systems, which have been condemned by civil society groups across Canada. I was the only Senator to give a speech in opposition to the bill - perhaps because, as an Albertans, I have already witnessed the dangers of demonizing new Canadians and asylum seekers. https://youtu.be/U1QAtaBy-sM?si=np2nmi9xbGJs1Jdk #C12 #BillC12 #cdnpoli #SenateofCanada #SenCa #Alberta #ableg #abpoli #DanielleSmith #immigration #ICE
I’m so sorry - I’m a bit behind on my Mastodon posting. Last week was crazy busy. So let me give you a recap of all the trouble I’ve been making in the Senate. First up - my exchange with Justice Minister Sean Fraser about Premier Danielle Smith’s threat to stop funding new superior court judges in Alberta. https://youtu.be/4qW6MudvW7M?si=mM_Sk-vk7xUl9THv #cdnpoli #abpoli #LCJC #Alberta #SenateOfCanada #DanielleSmith #SenCa #ableg
I know we’re trying to ignore the climate crisis now…but wildfire season is looming.
“So the worry is that some of our forests are going to become water-stressed earlier this year and that potentially increases the fire risk throughout the forests of North America,”
The watersheds most affected by declining snow water were the Okanagan in B.C., the Assiniboine-Red River basin in Manitoba and the Saskatchewan River basin. The declines could also reduce flows in the Fraser River and the St. Lawrence River, which millions rely on for water and hydropower.

Braid: Is the UCP still a pro-Canada party? They might take a vote on it

Canada may finally be at the point where a reminder must be issued to political parties that they and its members are not above the law.
UCP President Rob Smith apparently laid out plans to convert the UCP to a separatist party. While open discourse is certainly a factor to a healthy and functioning democracy, I think the UCP will become a test case for Canada in terms of whether a political party may be compromised.

A stable man with very unfortunate circumstances totally disarms an unstable man with seemingly fortunate circumstances.
This guy is standing right outside of an ATM and downtown right across from a pasta kitchen, says, "Sorry, I wish I had something to give you."
Alberta independence "will take better care of you," meanwhile, this privileged asshat knows Pasta Amore is right across the street. Why doesn't he demonstrate this supposed charity?
This guy isn't Albertan. It's all a fucking psy op for Trump to pillage our natural resources.
This is the verbatim logic of the Alberta separatism movement: "god bless ya."
I'm no Christian, but dude:
Matthew 26:11: "For you always have the poor with you, but you will not always have me."
Kevin O’Leary is at it again, saying Canada and the US should “unify their economies” and worse…
He’s also echoing the talking points of Alberta separatists saying that Trump would agree to no tariffs on Canada if there were no tariffs on the US.
This is a guy who wants to own a huge chunk of land in northwestern Alberta for a massive data centre factory that would most likely be used by big US tech companies and run on massive amounts of methane gas, consume a lot of water, and emit harmful pollutants into the surrounding air and environment.
