"Witch Doctor" is a 1958 American #noveltySong written and recorded by #RossBagdasarian (under the stage name of #DavidSeville). Bagdasarian sang the song, varying the tape speeds to produce a #highpitched voice for the titular #witchDoctor; this technique was later used in his next song, "#TheBirdOnMyHead", and for the creation of the voices of his #virtualBand #AlvinAndTheChipmunks. The song became a number one hit and rescued #LibertyRecords from near-bankruptcy.
