Guitar question: I just watched Tash Sultana's Tiny Desk concert (which was amazing, they are a force!) 🎸

On the last song they use a 12-string guitar with only 11 strings. The 4th pair from the top has only one string instead of 2. (see attached screenshot from 22:16 in the video). I assume it was intentional. As a person who doesn't play guitar, it made me curious why they might have made this choice?
