They poured too many IPA’s so they offered me one for free. I was about to reject it but Heel Cal called me a p<REDACTED> and threatened to leak my search history if I did.

As we see the blue alien's and light brownish versions of the original crew's (soul?) whisps swap in and out of the Enterprise crews bodies, it is never fully explained where the crew went. They describe out of body experiences looking at themselves from the outside, but also reliving experiences from their past.

Are they hallucinating, time traveling, or experiencing different realities? Also, what compels them to return?
