This was one of my early filmmaking projects. I shot this by myself, with a Canon 5DMII on a monopod, in a single day. The event was the Brendan Borek Surf Memorial in Avalon, NJ. Brendan was a surfer who died of cancer at 17. His legacy lived on through the event and the money they raised to support families dealing with pediatric cancer, all because of his mother Lydia Borek.

My God, this was 17 years ago. Holy shit. Same temperature, but my friends were surfing. I forgot about this. Not everyone gets perfect waves in pristine conditions. Some of us have to do whatever it takes.
This was one of the first things I shot with my new Canon 5DMII. I didn’t have a good handle on keeping the horizon level, but there was no auto focus and no aperture control.
When in doubt, you should go out (paddling and surfing and presuming the conditions are decent enough).
If its a sunny, warm, calm day with swell rolling in then you should have a good reason why you didn’t go out. This morning was worth it! #surfing #paddleboarding #sup

Comedy duo hit Swansea and Gower in new Pod of Wales travel series
Kiri Pritchard‑McLean and Esyllt Sears return for a third season of their travel‑meets‑comedy podcast, showcasing hidden gems across Cymru with their signature mix of banter, belly laughs and local love.
The Swansea & Gower episode sees the pair sample surfing in Caswell Bay, tuck into tapas at El Pescador, and explore the revamped Albert Hall food hall — which Kiri admits she’d never visited before.
