Last night I picked the C because it was there. Turns out the E decided to come along too, and without any announcement at the next stop its doors closed before I could switch. Went back to the C and THEN they announce they're going to be held to let the E go ahead.

Lucked out and got the express at 14th, caught up with the E by 42nd Times Square.

all the glyphs have widths that are multiples of a stripe, and as you can see (up toot) there are 6 extra stripes required in the 2nd row to fill the gap. I designed in the font for U+200A HAIR SPACE, U+2009 THIN SPACE, U+2008 PUNCTUATION SPACE to be 1-,2-,3-stripes wide. They can be used to center the text. With a U+2008 on each side (1st image).

For social media posts, it's a bit tight, and needs a bit of extra padding. So i add another U+200A either side.

the same AUTUMN LEAVES text reversed out on a stripey background. This time, because of careful use of space, both words are centered and the stripes fill the space. No gaps.
But, it's still a bit tight. The A and N of AUTUMN nearly touch the edges.

The original AUTUMN LEAVES image again, nearly identical to the other one in this post, but with just one extra stripe at both the left and right. Just enough to nudge the words themselves away from the edge of the image.

So for my new Rainbow Rocket font, @iorsh asks a question that i was intending to address, which is basically, how come the words in "AUTUMN LEAVES" are centered? Why, in fact, doesn't it look like the picture on the right?

it's kinda the same AUTUMN LEAVES reversed out on a stripey background, but now each word is left-aligned in its own line, and consequently there is an ugly blank white gap (a rectangle) at the right-hand end of LEAVES.
