Govia Thameslink #Railway has created a #Safeguarding Manager role to support passengers and staff across its #Gatwick Express, Great Northern, Southern and Thameslink networks. The post replaces and broadens the former Suicide Prevention Manager role. Rebecca Butler, who has more than 20 years’ safeguarding experience with vulnerable young people and adults, has been appointed. She previously led safeguarding teams at #Brighton & Hove City Council. At GTR she works with managers on issues such as #suicide prevention, County Lines, homelessness and violence against women and girls, alongside Network Rail, local authorities, #British #Transport Police and #charities including the #Samaritans and Railway Children. GTR says the role strengthens its commitment to safety, with the wider safeguarding work also supported by its “Your Station, Your Community Improvement Fund”.

*3 grams* is a fuckton of #cocaine for a 16 year old lad to have bought, and not cheap either.
Can't help that feel that although the dealer has been nicked, pleaded guilty (hence the relatively low sentence) and society thus assumes "justice has been done" there is a much wider #safeguarding issue here which is being overlooked.
It seems unlikely the lad was going to consume all 3 grams himself and coke is rarely the sort of stuff you do in your bedroom in the family home (it would be boring, and the paranoia unbearable) - was he also dealing to his mates or part of a wider circle of friends who are already heavy drug users in their teens (just like what I regularly saw in SE England and East Anglia about 20 years ago?)
