They are intent on murdering us whether or not we are carrying weapons. So, since that is clearly the case, I'd at least like to have a firearm on me to give me the chance to fire back, than not have one, at all.
Just like we always say: better to have a gun and not need one, than to need a gun and not have one.
As a queer woman of color who is a geolibertarian, the two most prominent reasons for me why moving to #Vermont was high on my list of places I wanted to live are because #VT strongly protects #LGBTQ+ rights *and* the #RTKBA at the state level.
Many other highly desireable places where I have lived cannot say the same, like Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, which have no statewide protections for LGBTQ+ rights.
In most of the US states, it's one or the other, not both, or only municipally.
Don't say you weren't warned. Don't say we didn't tell you that they would start the same way the Nazis did, by attacking trans people. Cold dead hands, and all that.

The likely outcome is that the Court will issue a new opinion upholding the revised DoJ position, which is that suppressors are indeed #RTKBA #AmendmentII protected arms, based on prior #SCOTUS precedent (cf: Heller, McDonald, Bruen, Rahimi), but it is highly likely that the Court will opine that suppressors are still subject to the additional background checks and fees of #NFA1934 (at least, until Congress removes them from the #NFA, which is probable, currently in process). #USpol #ConLaw
Interesting development in #rtkba case US v. Peterson (5th Circuit. Ct. Appeals). Respondent appealed the case for an en banc hearing, US DoJ reversed its earlier incorrect position, and the Court has withdrawn its earlier 3-panel decision without comment. The decision had held that #firearms #suppressors were not protected as “arms” by Amendment II, an idea fully inconsistent–indeed explicitly at odds–with established precedent.
I've said this before and I will say it again. I am a staunch supporter of the #RTKBA, and extremely skeptical of attempts to limit it, but two forms of restriction that I do support are a ban on the carry of firearms while engaged in public protest, and a ban on the carry of long arms for the ordinary purposes of self-defense in densely populated districts.
No one should be anywhere near a crowd of people with a firearm, much less a rifle. Not even police or military.
I was, somewhat inexplicably, watching a Massad Ayoob video last night, and I do have to say, he makes a very good case for eschewing cocking the hammer on a double action revolver or pistol, and relying on double action operation (at least for the first shot) in a confrontation. I hadn't considered that argument before, because double action trigger pulls are generally heavy and long, and somewhat less than smooth. #rtkba #selfdefense

You’d need to pay me good money to shoot full power .357 Magnum rounds through a scandium alloy framed 2” barrel revolver, even if it does hold 8 shots. Being an N-frame, it’s a bit of a beast, size-wise, but it would make much more sense if Smith & Wesson offered the 327 with a 9x19 mm cylinder. The 327 is only 23.2 oz (658 g) empty, so with subsonic 147 gr 9x19 mm rounds, it would be more easily controllable. S&W already makes the cylinder, sold in the Jerry Miculek #revolvers. #rtkba
Learning a bit today about the “uncommanded discharge” problems with SIG Sauer P320 pistols, as well as the military models based on them, the M17 and M18. It’s frankly shocking, and this manufacturer is now the sole source of infantry rifles and pistols for the US military. Pistols are accidentally discharging while holstered, with no disturbance of the trigger or safety mechanism. This has happened to civilians, police, and military users. I don't think I mentioned this before, but the #Vermont legislature recently passed S.109, which amends 13 V.S.A. § 4013 to repeal the illegality of switchblade #knives and directs the state to expunge all prior convictions under the repealed statue. This is a good thing, as the law was irrational, inconsistent with other Vermont statutes, and unconstitutional. Governor Scott is expected to sign the bill, which will go into effect July 1, 2025. #rtkba #VTpol

Using #firearms cases like these is legal permission for police to harass you, because they are permitted to assume what is in the box is what is advertised by explicit imprint or the general shape. The same is true of generic rifle cases that look like rifle cases. Don't give them the opportunity. #RTKBA
I don't know why this never occurred to me before, but I just thought of something.
As a woman with an interest in subjects like #firearms, EDC (everyday carry), logistics, survival/preparedness, fashion, travel, #RTKBA and politics and law in general, and product design, and who likes to write about these things online, I have always had a policy of refraining from speaking in specifics about firearms online.
