A question for #physicaloceanography #oceanography - what are the main differences between brinicles and salt fingers? I am quite familiar with salt fingers but not so much about brinicles. Do they also form via double diffusion ? Both are facinating to learn about, but I would like to learn more about their similarities/differences for an upcoming lecture...

PhD student in #PhysicalOceanography in Gothenburg (Sweden), using both numerical modeling (NEMO model) and observations (ARGO, satellite products, etc) to investigate what drives the change of stratification type in the ocean (alpha, thermally stratified in subtropics - beta, stratified by salt in polar regions).
