Can flawed AI-generated images be better for design than accurate ones?
In a new #CSCW2025 paper, @jaguridi et al. explore using image-generative AI as a boundary object in participatory processes to design public spaces.
Their key finding: Imperfect, unexpected images, which they term conversational imperfects, prompted richer and more space-aware conversations with participants than accurate images (fake perfects") did.

In a nutshell: The analyis of different GNU/Linux distributions shows how community culture inform technology development, and technology shapes its users.
In times of #Trumpism and #musk it becomes evident, that we need control over our software.
We also need to include users and adress their needs through #governance and #participatorydesign

Sometimes you meet people whose work inspires and gives a breath of energy. I think the work of Angela Booker, provost of the Eight college in San Diego, is one of those . Last week she presented at University of California Irvine what in my mind seems an ambitious and necessary #ParticipatoryDesign project: the creation of a culture of inclusion and care, with strong community ties among college students. I think that now more than ever these inspiring projects are needed :)

Health Care meets Engineering - Presentation at #BMT2023
On 9/26/2023, we presented our findings from the #Parcura #research project. Opportunities, challenges and (current) limitations in the introduction of data glasses to support nurses in hospitals were discussed in an interdisciplinary panel. Special attention was given to the participation of the nursing staff in the whole process.
