Vol. 6 of the International Open Search Symposium proceedings summarises the research results that were presented at the @LRZ_DE in Munich.

Day 3 in a nutshell:

In her Keynote, Nina Leseberg from Wikimedia Germany shared insights into the topic of community based content curation.

2 „Ethics & Society“ panels fuled discussions, e.g. re transparency labels + environmental factors of AI in WebSearch.

In the student session Daphne Auer shared her concept of User-Driven Re-Ranking for an Adaption of the Variety in Search Results; Felice Douglas & Susanne Krol shared creative curation for #OWS

Enjoyed the you.com keynote by Richard Socher, and excellent Q&A session, at #OSSYM2024 in LRZ Munich today.

One insight: ppl don't pay for search, but businesses might pay for increased productivity. They focus on generating reports as answers for complex info needs, much like the TREC CAR work pioneered by @dietz
