The Supreme Court has revived, at least for now, the Biden administration’s #regulation of “#ghost #guns,” drawing a spotlight to the kits that can be assembled into homemade firearms and the new front in the fight over gun control that they have opened up.

Administration officials say the popularity of the weapons has soared in recent years, particularly among criminals barred from buying ordinary guns.

The regulation, issued in 2022 by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, broadened the bureau’s interpretation of the definition of “firearm” in the Gun Control Act of 1968.

It did not ban the sale or possession of parts that can be assembled to make homemade guns, but it did require manufacturers and sellers to obtain #licenses, mark their products with #serial #numbers and conduct #background #checks

Od środy rana jesteśmy w stałym kontakcie z Panią z Łodzi. Trafiła do szpitala w sobotę, 14 tydzień ciąży, odpływ wód, płód w kanale rodnym. Gdy zapytała personel medyczny, czy mogą coś zrobić skoro jest w trakcie poronienia, usłyszała, że nie mogą "bo takie jest w Polsce prawo".

Das Fruchtwasser der Frau brach vor 21 Tagen. Fötus irreversibel geschädigt. Das Krankenhaus wartete darauf, dass der Fötus von selbst stirbt. Der Fall wurde publik gemacht. Daraufhin entschied sich das Krankenhaus schließlich für einen Kaiserschnitt. Der Druck macht Sinn.

Text reads: "What did we learn today? On Sunday (28th May), media publication "Gazeta Wyborcza" received a statement from the family of the deceased. Her name was Dorota. In the statement we read that the patient died on the morning of the 24th May. She was in her 21st week of pregnancy.
"Dorota had reported herself to hospital on 21 May 2023 at night due to premature discharge of amniotic fluid, without other ailments. During her hospitalisation, the fetus died. On May 24, 2023, medical personnel reported significant deterioration in her health and subsequently the female patient died. Doctors claim they waited until the death of the fetus to attempt to save Dorota. "As we were informed, the cause of death was a septic shock with multi-governmental insufficiency," the family writes."

Text reads: "Sepsis develops very rapidly in situations such as Dorota’s. This is how people in advanced pregnancy die when all the amniotic fluid is discharged. This situation is life threatening - this is not a drill! She should not have been made to wait until she was at death’s door! And we want to say directly - such tragedies occur because of abortion bans and medical teams prioritising the fetus over the pregnant person. We would like to remind you that since the abortion act in Poland was enacted, doctors who perform abortions in the event where the life or health of the patient is in danger have not been taken to court or prosecuted. It remains legal.
