And before you knew it, the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras board had reversed the decision to disallow cops to march. The amount of 🥾👅 white queers, trans, & allies outraged online at their exclusion has been thoroughly demoralising.

I'm torn about my own participation this Saturday. I have been looking forward to marching with Trans Pride Australia before I move away from Sydney this year. And frankly the numbers of trans folk who seemingly have little to no commitment to intersectional justice is staggeringly disturbing.

I'm so angry with the cashed up & middle class queer that are simping for the actors of state violence.

The NSW police can bitch and whine all they want, the fact that they're putting forward the lie that the stalker and murderer of Jessie Baird and his partner was his 'former boyfriend' when it's well-known they were never together proves that they don't belong at Mardi Gras.

Honestly I never liked the cops being part of the celebrations in the first place, given how the worst prejudice the queer community faces has always come from the police. It's only right that they be removed from the celebrations given this current disgusting situation. That they think their exclusion is a bigger shame than the pain their presence causes says everything we need to know.

Die Polizei ist halt ein politischer Akteur, der zur Kriminialisierung von queerem Leben jederzeit bereit ist, wenn es ihnen oppertun erscheint, wenn es Befehle dafür gibt, etwa wenn es darum geht queere Menschen in Staaten zu deportieren, in denen sie verfolgt werden.
