At first, I flew toward the voices cawing, “I’m here! This way!” But I soon veered north. Something was cawing to me: a scent, a murmur, a hue. A fascination #articulated through every sense.
Houses and fields sped past below. Once or twice, places where I might find grubs or seeds beckoned me. But the call had become a song that drew me on.
Then I saw it: a swirl of unnamed colors rising from a glade in a copse of nesting trees. The colors brushed motionless autumn leaves, rising into the sky—a scent as alluring as yesterday's trash.
I swooped down, landing on a branch to take in the scene: a girl dancing. With each swing of her arms, stomp of her heel, and swish of her hips and kimono, a shimmering mist arose. She sang, accompanying her dance with a song like evening crickets or morning doves—ancient, yet new as dawn.
“Caw, caw. I’m here,” I called. I really wanted to know what she was doing.
She stopped dancing—face turning—eyes fixed uncomfortably on me. I wanted to tell her, “Don’t be like that. Look away,” but she spoke first. “Did Old #Nick send you?”

"You blew your veto 'o the week on those pilgrims, 'member?" Bartosh grinned. "Now your piety's gonna make. us. rich." He grabbed the controls and the starry scene behind the main screen shifted. One of the stars in the center grew larger, quickly taking the form of the holo.
"Fangs out, brace to hit." Bartosh laughed. On the main screen a spike-like structure pushed into view.

The internet is currently awash in right-wing propaganda about alleged fraud in Minnesota’s social services programs.
Unsurprisingly, you can thank a mendacious right-wing influencer for kicking off this hysteria.
Also unsurprisingly, the Trump administration is making the most of this opportunity to kick a blue state in the teeth.
#Nick #Shirley, a 23-year-old conservative YouTuber who specializes in anti-immigrant videos,
went to multiple daycare facilities in Minnesota
— but only ones run by Somali folks, of course
— and filmed himself “investigating.”
He alleged that several were essentially non-operational and were instead fronts for fraud and siphoning Child Care Assistance Program funds.
This video then became the basis for the Trump administration to
💥freeze Small Business Administration funding,
taking $5.5 million away from Minnesota’s small business development centers, women’s business centers, a microloan program, and more.
You might be confused about how this relates to daycare facilities, but don’t worry
— the administration is directly attacking those too.
On Tuesday, the government froze all childcare funds to Minnesota,
a move that leaves 30,000 lower-income families without childcare assistance,
which functionally means that many of those families will not be able to access childcare at all.
The administration is taking these actions even though it took less than a week for the wheels to come off
and for Shirley’s video to be largely debunked.
Even CBS News, which these days is known more for protecting the administration rather than ever criticizing it,
found that of the 12 centers, 10 had active licenses
Two facilities Shirley targeted for his big fraud reveal had already shut down earlier this year,
which would make doing a bunch of fraud sort of hard.
KSTP — the ABC affiliate in Minnesota that is so right-wing that it once pushed the story that the then-Minneapolis mayor, Betsy Hodges, was flashing a gang sign when she was merely pointing at someone
— also did some actual investigating. They found the same thing CBS did
— all but two of the facilities have active licenses and all were visited this year.
KSTP’s review of state records found that the centers had been cited for safety violations, but no allegations of fraud.
None of these facts matter, of course,
because the point of Shirley’s video is to give cover to the administration’s attack on Minnesota for being a blue state
and Somali immigrants for, well, being Somali immigrants.
The state was already under siege by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
This was an inevitable next step.

the deep sexual dysfunction driving their movement.
The constant drumbeat of weird sexual displays is likely a major reason the MAGA coalition,

especially with younger voters.
Being a 27-year-old virgin who deems himself an expert on other people’s sex lives doesn’t stand out in a community where few seem to have a healthy relationship with human sexuality.
Trumpist leaders love pointing the finger at LGBTQ+ people and liberals,
calling them “groomers”
and suggesting they’re violent perverts.
But in 2025, the nation really saw how much that behavior is old-fashioned psychological #projection.

From Trump reportedly writing Epstein a birthday card that celebrated how he had “certain things in common” with a man accused of abusing minors
to stories about Epstein victims being raped at Trump’s house while he hosted parties,
the nation got a glimpse of the sexual world the president apparently inhabited,
or at least stood in close proximity to,
-- one which wasn’t glamorous but simply gross.
Podcast host #Megyn #Kelly exposed the dilemma for Trump’s defenders in November when she 🔥attempted to minimize raping minors.
“There’s a difference between a 15-year-old and a 5-year-old,” she complained,
describing Epstein’s victims as
“the barely legal type.”
As many immediately pointed out,
there’s nothing legal, barely or otherwise, about raping girls as young as 14,
which is what Epstein was charged with doing.
Kelly was deluged with people posting photos of 14- and 15-year-old girls,
demonstrating how childish they look,
which also underscored how ghastly it is that Epstein and Trump hung out together to leer at girls under the guise of “judging” modeling contests.

From decrying “globalists” and #George #Soros, to embracing the “real” Jews in Israel,
the GOP is inextricably entwined with #Christian #nationalism.
In polite company, the party manages to keep this antisemitism as subtext.
They openly attack other minorities, particularly trans people and Muslims;
But Jew-hatred is expressed as rage at “#elites” or ancient blood libel repackaged for the modern era, such as Pizzagate and Qanon.
“Trolling the libs” necessitates saying the unsayable.
And Trump, who won by embracing the most online people on earth,
is constantly playing footsie with the fringe figures who endorse him.
That’s how he wound up hosting #Kanye #West and #Nick #Fuentes at Mar-a-Lago in 2022,
both avowed antisemites and #Holocaust #deniers.
But bringing trolls inside the tent means the GOP can’t plausibly deny that they’re central to the project.
Republicans can’t very well maintain a veneer of separation from bomb throwers like #Alex #Jones, #Candace #Owens, and #Laura #Loomer
when they’re being boosted by the president himself.
And so the “normie” Gippers steadfastly assure themselves that they are the real GOP — the signal, not the noise.
