Ok, ich habe mein Managed Nextcloud Hosting bei Hosting.de wieder gekündigt...der Grund: das High Performance Backend schafft maximal 4 zusätzliche User in einem Videokonferenz-Raum. Also #NextcloudTalk scheint echt ressourcenintensiv zu sein. Da nutze ich doch lieber weiter #opentalk, da ich dort bei Heinlein für 3€ über Mailbox.org immerhin 25 User versammeln kann. Schade. Ich laste das Hosting.de auf keinen Fall an. Die machen einen super Job und der Support ist top.

Ich hab mir heute bei Hosting.de ein Managed Nextcloud Paket gebucht. Zunächst hatte ich das 100 Gigabyte Paket mit High Performance Backend gebucht. Ich hab dann eine Videokonferenz mit drei Teilnehmern simuliert. Das Problem: es traten immer wieder Signaling Fehler auf, wo ich nicht weiß, ob das an einem zu schwachen Server lag. Ich hab dann auf Empfehlung des FAQ-Bereich auf das 500er Paket hochgestuft . Jetzt kommt der Fehler nicht mehr. Morgen teste ich den Server das erste Mal unter Realbedingungen. Mal sehen wie gut es funktioniert. Sollte das nicht gut klappen probiere ich noch das 1000er Paket. Alles drüber wird mir dann aber zu teuer. #nextcloud #nextcloudtalk

Hey #pnpde, was nutzt Ihr für digitale #Rollenspiel-Runden? Gerade für die Kommunikation suche ich eine Alternative zu Discord. Da ich neuerdings eine #Nextcloud habe, wollte ich #Nextcloudtalk nutzen. Empfehlenswert?

Hat jemand Erfahrungen mit #NextcloudTalk? Wie stabil sind die Videokonferenzen damit? Wie gut funktionieren größere Konferenzen mit High Performance Backend? #nextcloud
Zu dem Grund der Frage: Ich möchte meinen Arbeitgeber überzeugen statt Microsoft 365 lieber das ohnehin vorhandene Nextcloud lieber voll auszureizen.

@poleguy @jannem @argv_minus_one Showcase them how #JitsiMeet, #WebCall and espechally #NextcloudTalk are superior products which work way better and save them a shitton if cost, don't require client-side installations and can comply with any arbitrary #dataprotection and confidentiality demands if #SelfHosted inhouse!

@jannem gnome-terminal can be set to be read-only so that the presenting system doesn't forward any inputs until you enable those with some mouse clicks on it.

Pretty shure that can be set with other terminals too...

But I agree that this shouldn't be that frustrating and not necessitate ugly hacks like screensharing a window via #VLC or #WebRTC (#WebCall, #JitsiMeet, #NextcloudTalk)…

Okay i tried Nextcloud Talk as an ingame Chat for the Children while playing luanti.
Honestly it simply does not work reliable for 2+ person. So we were going for Mumble.

So we tried #nextcloud talk yesterday with friends and it was AMAZING. I first struggled with sound in-out but that was clearly my setup with external speakers and external camera. (really not the typical setup!)

But the 2h video call went totally smooth, good quality, no lag.

If you do videocalls with friends and family.. I can totally recommend nextcloud call - in my case hosted as #hetzner storage box.

@thimboo Das ist aber kein generelles Problem, sondern ein spezifisches von #Nextcloud: Die haben wohl irgendwie keine Lust oder mir unbekannte Gründe, warum die das bei freien Apps doch inzwischen gängige #UnifiedPush bis heute nicht unterstützen.

Und #NextcloudTalk aus #FDroid unterstützt gar keine Push-Benachrichtigungen.

Das ist bei einer freien Plattform, die uns eigentlich helfen soll von Google, Microsoft und Co loszukommen, schlicht nicht nachvollziehbar. 🤷 @cantences @andreas @nextcloud
