Apropos of thinking about post-Winter...

I tried starting Baby Blue (2012 Mazda MX5 Miata) several days ago, when it was really cold. She gave me that "You must be joking, right?!" response. Motor reluctantly turned over a couple times, then quit.

She looks patient, but very cold sitting there in her little snow mounds, icicles stuck to her high performance tires...

Harvesting ice was an active industry here in NEPA ~1900. The remains of the ice dock in Ely Lake can still be seen under water. And a good chunk of what's now my sister's house was made from of hemlock timbers from the old family ice house in Brooklyn, PA.

Yes, it is very cold here in NEPA. I will add merino wool long johns for today's outdoor activities... but that's it.

As a Midwesterner, reactions from my cousins here amuse me. This was pretty standard all Winter long in Chicago, Iowa, & Minnesota.

It’s cold, and will not be warming up for several days. I’ll be out clearing snow (again!) a bit later. Layering, beginning with thermal long johns, will be the order of the day. Also may need to dig through my bin of Winter wear to find some insulated gloves (thank you, US Army!).
