North Bay Python 2026
RE: https://social.northbaypython.org/@NorthBayPython/115861794229890398
As you head into the weekend, think about sharing something cool with all the excellent folks who attend North Bay Python.
I know you all have some amazing talk ideas banging around — I’ve been on committees for half a dozen conferences by now — but NBPy is literally the coolest possible venue to give that talk at. And we have the best, funniest, and most engaged audience imaginable.
We want to hear your ideas. Yes, even your crazy ones!
I promise, you don’t even need to utter the word “Python” once in your talk.
hello! chris is on vacation (no new website yet), but apparently time waits for no conference, and it's time for us to ask you what you want to talk about!
Do you want to speak at California's hyper-local barn-based #Python conference? Please send us your talk ideas!

Not going to announce it properly until tomorrow now, but if you'd rather be thinking about what you'd like to say at #NBPy instead of thinking about *all this*, go find our CFP:
(also, selfishly, I'd like to launch an #NBPy CFP without it being in the middle of posts of/from people being (justifiably) angry)
I was having a conversation with someone about helping out at events, and remarked that one of the coolest parts of the barn era #NBPy is the venue strike, when what feels like literally everyone present clap after the closing remarks, get up, and start stacking chairs. This is, to be clear, upon explicit request by @chrisjrn.
This reminded me of @jonafato’s excellent post about both literal and metaphorical “stacking [of] chairs”, so I figured I’d share: https://www.jonafato.com/2024/12/20/stacking-chairs
@petrillic do consider dropping into #NBPy if you want to see a language community trying to do it right too
@skinnylatte I'm sure you said that during your #NBPy talk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9gGYZ9G_d4
Just watched this rather awesome talk by @glyph at #NBPY
It's been a while since I wrote any #python code, but this is as much a talk about communities, delivering on the promises we make to the people we invite into them, and recognizing new ways to adapt to our changing technology landscape.
And excavators. Worth watching.
If you missed my ‘From FinTech to Fin Tech’ talk at North Bay Python, here’s a blog post with the video
The slide everyone was talking about is at 06:27
And to anyone who lives on the west coast or can tolerate connecting through DFW or PHX, this is the better place to fly to #NBPy, even if the security does stop for a lunch break
bad news: For the first time in a while, you're going to have to wait a full year between #NBPy events
Good news: WE'RE COMING BACK! April 25th and 26th, 2026, at our favorite ranch just south of Petaluma. See you there!

Taking the train to the car dealership (for reasons), it's always a great opportunity to snap a pic of the ranch and remember to start plotting next year's #NBPy
