There were flourishing presses in the language, including the original #SchockenBooks, founded in #Berlin in 1931 and boasting #authors like future Nobel Laureate #SYAgnon. #Hitler’s rise and the #Holocaust, underscored by #book burnings on the streets, put an end to the industry on the continent."
