It fascinates me that, while we may occasionally doze off while doing other things (reading a book, watching tv, driving a car, etc.), most nights, in order to FALL asleep, we must first pretend to already BE asleep.

We lie down, turn off the lights, tuck in, close our eyes and pantomime unconsciousness until it takes. So weird.
