051 - Polaris
Rocking the much-improved version of her brief Quesada-designed "sexy" costume. The capitol in the background is a nice touch, too.
Her OG mask/headband always makes me think she has a shamrock on her face.

050 - Cannonball
Another standout of the set. Dynamic perspective & phenomenal coloring work in the different shades of the blastin' effect.
It's kinda odd Sam's brief history w/the Hellfire Club doesn't come up more.
049 - Puma
I'm a sucker for these kind of "top-down" perspective cards.
Also, every time I read the word "puma", I read it like Principal Skinner pronounces it ("pew-mah").
048 - Rhino
Very cool that we get some fully painted Bret Blevins stuff in this set.
Hasn't Rhino's suit always been stuck on him, not just "in the beginning"?
047 - Annihilus
Ah! Space Dracula!
I have to assume we eventually learned the origin of the ship from which he crafted his control rod, and it was like a
Celestial or Kree ship or something, right?
044 - Ravage 2099
Stan Lee's last notable creation, the 2099 imprint's only original main character. In true Stan fashion, his last name is "Ravage."
They really should have spaced out these #Marvel2099 characters a bit more.
043 - Doom 2099
I always kind of liked there was one 2099 character who tied directly into the present day comics.
Great stuff from Jusko; you can really feel the crackle of the electricity.
042 - Punisher 2099
"What if the Punisher...but with...future guns.?"
Some of the 2099 reimaginings worked a little harder than others.
041 - Spider-Man 2099
Thanks to the second Spider-Verse film, this is the one 2099 character who is probably more well-known now than in 1993.
040 - Vulture
The largest figure Sienkiewicz has painted for this set yet!
The birds in the background are great - it's like "bird, bird, Man-Bird" coming at the viewer.
039 - Magneto
One of my favorite cards in this set. An effective mix of resolute, ominous, and haggard.
038 - Colossus
Svelte Colossus is a nice break from the more typical Swoll Colossus.
Pretty sure Colossus was with the Acolytes when this landed, but it presumably was produced prior to that.
037 - Adam Warlock
This looks like something you could find painted on the side of a conversion van in the late 70s or early 80s - which is exactly the appropriate vibe for Adam Warlock.
036 - Blade
Love to see Tom Palmer contributing to this set - his painted covers are some of the best of the 80s - but this Blade is thoroughly fine. Zooming in or a more eye-catching background would help.
035 - Thanos
Great Thanos - the smirk really sells it. Now a member of the Infinity Watch!
Also love pre-thicc, randomly-shoved-into-Iron Man Thanos on the back.
033 - Spider-Woman
Julia is a bit more...buxom-y than I tend to think of her, but I do like this card.
032 - US Agent
Love this card, the way the stripes create a sense of movement along with the deflected energy blast.
Another "not the character's first appearance" on the back.
