Anyone have opinions on whether #Uber or #Lyft is better?

Lyft changed the price on me multiple times. Recently, it said "Since you updated your stop or destination, your fare reflects actual time and distance". I didn't make any changes!

On the next trip, it sent the driver to the wrong location. I think that is Apple's fault. Their GPS was total garbage in downtown Seattle. But Lyft's app didn't give me a way of contacting the driver to find out where he was. They charged me a waiting fee.

Given the wear and tear that #Uber #Lyft #Doordash et cetera put on one's vehicle, I've described working for them as, "not making money, but making a withdrawal on the value of your car." But cars wear out and new cars cost more than ever. How much longer can this #GigEconomy last if it doesn't pay enough to invest in another round of capital?

See, you’re helping these corpos scam gig service workers when you pretip. They usually let you tip after delivery if you want to, but it’s better to give them cash if you want to tip. At least you know they get it. (I have seen quite a few posts of Uber drivers being shown by customers what they tipped but not getting the whole tip & they wouldn’t have known if the customer didn’t show them their screen.)

I literally don’t care if my grocery delivery order sits longer so the store has to keep offering more and more money for someone to take it because I don’t pre-tip. I stopped doing it when my stuff kept ending up at the wrong apartment complex. But also it’s not my job to pay the store’s payroll expenses. Let my order sit until they offer the delivery people enough to make it worth it to them. Let it burn to the ground until they do.

How many robotaxis are operating in San
Francisco right now?
We don't know. The city has regulatory authority over taxis, but not over robotaxis. We get very little data from state and federal authorities.
So how does San Francisco gather information about robotaxis on its streets?
The bulk of the relevant information that we get on robotaxi performance comes from 911 calls and social media. This has been a source of great frustration, since robotaxis have obviously been tremendously impactful to the transportation system.

Less than 1% of Uber and Lyft trips in the Bay Area connect to transit. But in the late 2000s, the companies made all these lofty promises that they were going to be a critical first/last-mile connector to public transportation. They believed that the existence of ridehail would allow people to shed cars because there would always be a vehicle there when you need it.
Not only did none of those promises come true, the opposite actually occurred. The San Francisco County Transportation Authority did an analysis in 2018 showing that almost half the increase in vehicle miles traveled in San Francisco was due to Uber and Lyft. They were displacing transit, walking and biking trips, they were adding to deadheading miles, and they were significantly increasing traffic in the most congested parts of the city.

Hi guys! Had a little bit of an emergency and I'm out of ways to get to work. My only options are Uber/Lyft or walking (2 miles in rain and floods).

The car broke down and is having issues starting. I can't figure out the bus schedule for public transit and the only one NEAR where I need to go is at 5 am.

I need to be able to get to work tomorrow and home, honestly... I'm fine with walking home in the rain if needed but.

Uber is gonna be about $20 (Looking at prices right now) just to get to work. I'll figure something out after work.
