Story:
Nachdem Lilli sich einen Tag erholt hatte, war sie heute wieder gut bei Pfote. Die schmalen Waldwege boten Deckung von allen Seiten. Sie ist oft und flott weit voraus gelaufen und hat die Richtung bestimmt.
Es war tatsächlich ehr grau und kalt. Den warmen Pullover haben wir an diesem Tag nicht ausgezogen.

I shared this picture before. Somehow it got lost. I still like it very much. Lilli was almost 20 years old when we embarked on this adventure in April 2024.

Story:
I had to drag the buggy up the bluff - rising up next to the meandering river Böhme. Lilli set her mind on climbing where I could not follow. Later we set on top of the bluff (near Freudenthalweg) watching wildlife. I told myself that I would never drag that buggy up there again. You know I failed. Lilli loves that place …. And me too.

If you take a close look you can see her cyst on the left shoulder - that was removed by surgery in Mai 2025.

Am 26.09.2025 hatte Lilli einen Ruhetag. Ich war am Strand. Lilli hat geträumt und ihren Geist erholt, während ich Richtung Ostplate gelaufen bin.

Ein rot gepflasterter Weg zieht sich neben einer gepflasterten schmalen Straße Richtung Horizont. Hundsrose wächst zwischen diesen Wegen. Gräser und Krähenbeeren auf den sonnenbeschienen Dünen links und rechts. Am Horizont ein Streifen graue Wolke, die über der Nordsee aufziehen. Darüber ein horizontaler Streifen blauer Himmel und über uns die Unterseite einer dichten grauen Wolke, die über die sonnenbeschienen Dünen zieht.

‘de Utkieker‘ by Hannes Helmke (2007, bronze, 3,50 m high) standing on top of a dune on the island of Spiekeroog. Looking outside (utkiek) towards the north sea. (You can see the dune with the whole statue on 1/2)

There are only the feet of the bronze statue to be seen and in the back the rolling dunes. The earth is wrapped beneath a heavy cloud cover. Lilli is sitting in her buggy wrapped in her own blankets, looking (kieken) at the bronze feet - and dunes (Dünen)

Story (by Lilli):
This time I traveled by buggy up the hill. So I had time to watch the emptiness around me growing - while sitting safely in my buggy. When I got scared I stuck my head beneath the cover of my sleeping bag - until my curiosity overtook me and I took another look. After all it was not so scary on top of this hill - because there were huge human feet for orientation.

😺 The first time I saw this hill (Kohhukdüne) and humans on top of it. I decided to follow my curiosity and go up there myself. Climbing the hill very fast - leaving mistress 😳 behind. Believe it or not - on top of this hill is NOTHING except sky 🙀 Really scary. I turned around right away to take cover ... leaving mistress behind going upstair 😹

😺 This is me hiding and watching hikers. The humans went by and climbed a hill called Kohhukdüne. 14 cat lives ago (1738) at this spot, was no grass, no sand no Krähenbeere only water called #northsea That is difficult to embrace.

Krähenbeere:
… grows on the north side of old dunes (Braundünen). The north side gets enough rain and water out of mist (coming from the north sea)

Story:
Lilli recognized this place from our first visit to Spiekeroog (2 years ago). She took a good look around from her high spot on the bench-of hidden-treasures (see 1/2) ... and then went down into the little grove (seen on 1/2) - to find a place to pee. After that she came back and decided to hide in the Krähenbeere - watching hikers.
After a while she made it clear that she felt a little off-color, and I took the Old Lady back to our flat to rest her mind and body.

Bild and Story:
Lilli sitting on her sweater next to the roots of a conifer - on 21st of Dezember 2022. We had to pull her sweater off because we had 19°C /66°F on the shortest day of the year. The winter sun was beating down on the sand - so we appreciated the conifers shadow.

You can not see this in the picture, but the conifer stands on top of a sandy hill, its roots keeping the sand together (more or less). It grows in the middle of a field of dunes (Verdener Dünen)

When you get older and loose teeth - sorry to say so but this will happen 😾 - this 'Krallenschere' (Nail clipper) is a useful item to keep your back claws short.

Story (Teil 2):
Lilli Winter 23/24. Inzwischen passte der Pullover. Sie zieht sich diesen mit Unterstützung selbst an und aus. Lilli liebt die kalte Jahreszeit und wir waren viel unterwegs. Selbst bei Minusgraden. Die empfindlichen Ohren haben wir mit einem Schal geschützt.
Diesen Winter waren wir noch gar nicht weg. Lilli genießt es dafür täglich mindestens einmal eine Runde über die Terrasse zu drehen (bis das weiße Zeug da lag :-( ... und in den Garten zu schauen, in den Sie altersbedingt nicht mehr hinunter kommt.
Sonst sitzt die alte Dame am Fenster und beobachtet - Silvester das Feuerwerk und gestern stundenlang den fallenden Schnee …
